What happened to all the SoFL athletes?
there are 3 schools listed witin 20 mins of each other in the top 20 in the country wtf y all mean what happened? lol

buford played last night in their millions of dollar stadium against milton an i dont see either of those 3 teams beating the 3 teams listed on here and they both looked underwhelming for the start of the year.

Also How is oN3 RANKING THIS they really dont have a clue on the teams and this is based off their player rankings. For example chaminade started a 8th grader at qb last night im sure no one at on3 knows who he even is.

They moved to central FL, north FL, Georgia, and the Carolinas cuz our economy imploded 5 years ago.
well why the **** do south florida teams beat the sh*t out of central florida an north florida teams every year that they had to create seperate divisions for those guys to even have a chance at state.

they fixed it back last year and it was a clean sweep by s.fla schools AGAIN for states.

God's honest truth...

I wear a LOT of UM polos and shoes...and I am CONSTANTLY getting into conversations with Miami expats who have moved to ATL and want to talk about them Canes.

One dude stopped his car in the middle of a Publix parking lot to talk about Carson Beck. It's just wild how many people from SoFla have moved to ATL.
NOW THERE HAVE BEEN A WAVE OF FOLKS TAHT WENT UP TO THAT AREA FOR SURE.

There was always school choice in the area, especially for black students willing to attend a non-black majority school. Someone once told me this was a legacy of the 1970s, when there was an effort to desegregate high schools. I think another issue is there being so many high schools these days. For example, there is something like 5-6 schools in or bordering Hialeah. This leads to massive dilution of talent, especially in era where you have less kids playing the sport.
naw man the school choice is like a wide open portal.

there are kids that are living on exit 1 in florida city that can attend carol city( like a 2 hour haul) if they want to as long as they have their own way to school. Those type of kids are in these " home school/charter type online programs". and they just do work on a laptop an show up to practice at the school after 4pm.

The amount of kids playing the sport in south florida isnt really dwindling. Now they are hoarding at certain schools though. The terrible youth football coaches are now hs coaches.

We obviously still have lots of talent. But you can't deny a certain amount of migration away from SoFla occurred the last 5 years.

This is not too surprising considering what I've seen on the ground in South Florida for like the past decade. Everyone I went to Elementary, Middle and High school with(& UM) has left Miami and moved to Georgia or North Carolina. I am the only one left here and I myself am looking to move in the next few years. There are a lot of people from MIA in North Carolina now, especially in Charlotte. The cost of living down here has gone up exponentially. On top of that, neighborhoods that have historically been AA/Caribbean black have been gentrified. Another thing is my generation(millennials) & Gen Z are not having kids as much as the previous generations. One highschool I used to live by only has about 600 kids. That's pretty low for a public Dade County High School. It used to be like 1,500+ or 2k kids in the 90s, 2000s & early 2010s. The public schools have also gone to ****. Idk, it could be a cycle that hopefully turns around but when Gary Ferman is even saying the same thing then we are lowkey kind of in trouble.

There is still some obvious talent down here but the Jeremiah Smith's of the world are not choosing us. I've run into too many kids and young men in Dade County who are fans of Ohio State. Makes me sick to my stomach.

palm beach has been hit.

broward is choc full of talent still.

dade has certain schools hoarding talent and younger kids arent breaking out...they rather go lebron chasing state rings done getting film.

there has been some migration out but then there is still migration in off setting a bit

forest hill was probably one of the worst programs locally when i was in hs in early 2000s.
I went to Palm Beach lakes. I don’t remember forrest hill being good lol. It’s Dwyer, Pahokee, Glade Central, and Palm Beach Gardens.

Bingo.
Changing demographics and dilution.
When I graduated there were 4 High Schools in the West Palm Beach area, 5 if you count Lake Worth High, plus Cardinal Newman.

Students in the 70’s were bussed between those 5 schools to desegregate. OJ Anderson got bussed from his neighborhood to Forrest Hill, he literally would pass Twin Lakes High to get to Forrest Hill.

Years later Forrest Hill almost stopped playing football because its student body changed demographically to a very high % of Mexicans, who prefer soccer and baseball to football.

Now that same area that fed those 5 public high schools has roughly a dozen public high schools.
There was a poster who would say this was on the horizon over 10 years ago. He was like a census clerk or something of the sort. When he posted stats back then, everyone laughed at him. Crazy how things have come full circle.

The state government has done a really good job of convincing people from other states that Florida is great while simultaneously convincing the people who actually live here that it’s **** on Earth.

Whats a good area to live? Hows the property taxes? Home insurance and car insurance?
The insurance rates and taxes are low compared to almost any city, as are the real estate prices. It isn’t cheap to live in Atlanta compared to a rural area, but cheaper than metro areas. And within metro Atlanta what makes it so livable is that you have so many neighborhoods that you won’t feel like you live in a city.
What Atlanta is not is walkable and we have poor public transportation. As a result, we rely too much on our cars. so where you live needs to take into consideration where you will work. If you have to cross the city in any direction, your commute will take at hour.

+1 for Twin Lakes reference

I would work at the airport. I would like to live somewhere south of that so I dont have to drive through the city.

Depends on where you work and your priorities. Like, are you young / single? Married with kids? Do you want the area with the good public schools in the suburbs, or are you good with living more in actual Atlanta and paying for private school (and higher property taxes)? Also, different counties have different vibes.

There are students from South Dade-ish and North Palm Beach-ish that attend STA and AH.

It happens.
