Crazy with "each year the team is different and the past means nothing", yet the clickbait of pre-season rankings of without seeing a single snap of live game footage...

…Notre Dame would be the far more effective tool in that sense though. They’ll say look ND is a top team that missed out cause of this.. saying Miami missed doesn’t have the same weight for that…

The reality is Just remove the G5 and Remove Conference Championship games. Name the Winner of Conference based on regular season games. Have teams ranked 10-16 or whatever do play in games during current conference champ week.

I’ve seen several sports media figures clamoring for the CFP committee to be done away with. If that happens, I take it there will be a structure-formula of some sort in its place, that everyone agrees on. But again, there will be teams left out as it will somehow depend on some human input in rankings leading up to the playoffs. Cronyism is vicious…

You take rankings completely out of the equation.

You use one computer program agreed to and provided to all schools prior to the season.

You have a competition between schools that can write the most accurate ranking system, using historical data as proof of concept.

The winner gets the contract going forward. No changes can be made to program after June 1st of each year and any future changes have to be voted on by all D1 HC’s.

No influence, no bias, no changing of rules midstream.
