So, when is it going 16 teams

This is such a shortsighted take. There is no other revenue source other than donors and state funds. There’s likely not enough interest in FCS to garner a tv deal. So then they cancel other sports just to afford football? Or the other way around?

What are college sports for? To make tv execs rich? Or to provide an education, life skills, and to better young men and women? You’re talking about possibly taking away the futures of thousands of kids.

I’m not willing to take a chance on further destroying thousands of kids lives for the enrichment of a handful of people.
Every program for themselves at this point. It’s the game ESPN and the SEC has created with greed. Every college in America makes absurd amounts of money through other sources. They can figure out how to fund their athletic programs without us.

12 teams is perfect.

But I’m not opposed to having a play-in weekend with all the bubble teams while the conference title games are going on.
You call this perfect????
Wow
I respectfully disagree
I believe if you get to 24 teams no team that could win the national championship is left out

With 16 teams or 12 teams or eight teams there is a team out there that could win at all that doesn’t get the chance

No one gets left out with 24, but it’s just lame because it makes a joke out of the regular season. 8-12 is the sweet spot.

you have this same issue year after year
And with that you will have biases to get more SEC and Big Ten teams, and Notre Dame in leaving out good teams from other conferences

It’s not perfect, but with 24 at least you get every good team in the country in the dance and then it’s decided on the field, not in a backlit room with a bunch of ******* crooked commissioners

Whether we make it to the CFP this season or not, Miami has provided the NCAA it’s best reason for the playoffs to be expanded to 16 teams.

IMHO, the NCAA should expand the playoffs to 16,teams, and also cancel the conference championship games because the teams that play in these conference championship games are actually only hurting their chances to ultimately winning the CFP
This isn’t basketball. There will be no Cinderella stories. Stop trying to be basketball. Team 16 never winning it all. Just wasting time.

You’re right but I just prefer to live with it. The college football season is so unique and I like needing to be close to perfect to win the title. Expanding just allows more teams in that aren’t true title contenders. Just my opinion although I agree with what you’re saying.

You’re not wrong, but what makes CFB special is its regular season. If you dilute the importance of it further, games stop mattering. I don’t want teams to be able to lose 4 times and make the playoffs. That’s ridiculous. I think we’re good where we’re at.

My problem is they’re gonna continue to push the SEC Big Ten, Notre Dame and great eight every single year and lock out really good teams like Miami, BYU and Vanderbilt

Great 8 Has
FOUR in Sec (bama Georgia Texas Oklahoma)
Two in B10 OSu and Mich
ND
USC

All 8 get preferential rankings Every year
Between them and extra teams in the SEC and Big Ten, there’s no room for anybody else!!!!

I’m telling you right now if they could make this, just an SEC Big Ten invitational they would and they’re doing everything they can to pretty much do it anyhow as we speak

They can’t but ok.

Yea that’s my point. This was created out of greed and the adults in the room should say enough is enough. The college regular season doesn’t need to continuously be diluted. Every game should matter. And the full season doesn’t need to last 16 games. OOC and regional rivalries still matter. Conf championships still matter. Tradition still matters. It’s the only difference left between pro and college sports.

Well yeah ya'll can lose 2 regular season games and get in the playoff 99 times out of 100 (but I agree with you 8-12 is best. The selection process and how the p4 conference champs are crowned is what needs to change)

Just drop the G5 autobid and that makes it so much better. If they want in the playoffs, they should be required to play 3-4 P4 opponents and have no more than one loss. Perhaps even zero losses although they’ll cry.

My understanding is that they can't do that because they will get their pants sued off on anti-trust grounds. I think there are still ways to make the 12 team playoff work with G5 autobid though.

No matter how many the SEC cant set the rules
you have to fight back

Yeah I figure that. It’s really absurd because anyone with a shred of common sense knows that a G5 conference is so much different than a P4 conference. Now, in the age of the transfer portal, their best players are usually getting plucked the year prior anyways so they’re even weaker.

Boise State got a bye week last year and I honestly don’t know if they were a top 25 team. They played Oregon tough but anyone can do that for one game. NIU beat ND.
