So. Tell me the difference in 2020 from 2013 or 2017

Our quarterback, OC, kicker and punter are hiding massive deficiencies at OL WR CB LB maybe safety and definitely defensive coordinator. Those other teams were probably more balanced top to bottom. But we’re witnessing how a really good quarterback can help hide things. This is a luxury that other teams have had that we haven’t had since Dorsey

Simple difference prior years we had no leadership and players that were beat down from years of negative talk. This year simply one word "transfer". The top players on this team have only been here 1 year so they have a bigget picture.

Its all win and advance. Are we good enough to win the CFP? Probably not. This next game against a bruising VT team would be a FANTASTIC win. The way our S and DB tackles doesnt give me hope. I want Amari and Couch to play more. I like the SFL players.

Why don't you tell us. You obviously started this thread to give us your opinion.

The difference is very, very obvious.

I feel like you may need to take a laxative or unbunch the panties from your rear end.

Im simply asking for why this is different, after the last 2-3 weeks I’m not sure it is.

The 2013 team had multiple first rounders on offense including WR and OL. Not to mention a QB who in 2012 set the ACC and Miami record for passing yards in a game and a RB that is the career rising leader at UM. So I think it’s lazy to say King is the difference. You could easily say well 2013 was better or different because of Duke.

At the end of the day I think the answer will come in the next few weeks. If we stumble down the stretch there is no difference. Finish the season 9-2 or better and Manny may have found something.

And others have pointed out some great thoughts.

Offensive staff. Talent level. Kicker and Punter are elite. (They weren’t bad in 13 & 17 either)

I’d also throw in injuries as a big difference. In 13 both Duke and Morris were hurt some. In 17 we got decimated down the stretch.

Tell me why we aren’t seeing a team that started hot and is now getting a lot of breaks to remain in the top 10 but is really a mirage.

The last 2 weeks have me concerned.
Stop focusing on rankings. Top ten means nothing. 6-1 means a lot.

Well the 2013 and 2017 teams were undefeated 7 games in and the 2020 team isn’t. Man I can’t believe you guys didn’t pick up the obvious!
Compare it to our other 6-1 starts (2000, 2003, 2005). Whats the difference there?

Overall talent is weaker. Defense is definitely weaker versus all three squads. Quarterback is better than the 2003 and 2005 teams. There is far more depth at wide receiver than the 2005 squad.

King is willing this team to victory. You saw what happens when a team loses a leader in the Clemson ND game. The backup Clemson QB is, on paper, better than most ACC starting QBs so Clemson should have rolled ND. But Lawrence was the team leader. Losing him sapped the energy from the team.

In 2013, Duke Johnson was the heart and soul of that squad. When he went down, Miami lost the guy who would put the team on his back, and then everything fell apart. Stephen Morris was playing most of the season with a torn achilles so even though he was a baller, he physically wasn't able to take over games.

In 2017, Rosier had moxie but simply did not have the talent to take over games. That team did not have the ability to win shootouts.

So what's the difference between those two teams and this one? King. He has the ability to go Super Saiyan 4 when he needs to, unlike any QB we've had in almost 20 years. He's both the best player and the team leader. This may come as a surprise to many, but QBs matter a lot. Even Saban said that in modern CFB, offense wins games. None of those other teams had the ability to win shootouts like this one or a QB anywhere near the caliber of King.
