So. Tell me the difference in 2020 from 2013 or 2017

I'll be surprised.
I’d love a 1 loss season but they’re playing some decent teams. Miami isn’t elite.. and has had breakdowns on both sides of the ball. If this team finishes with 2 losses I wouldn’t be shocked. And that’d still be a successful season.

Having said all that... any more than 2 losses would be a disaster requiring the staph to be fired, the AD to be drawn and quartered and the BOT to hand write personal letters of apology to all fans.

Competent offensive coordinator.
Competent quarterback.
Competent quarterback coach.
The potential to actually hold onto momentum and build something versus fools gold.

Plenty to be upset about but the team has overcome some obstacles and the offensive staff today appear to be sorted out. To me it’s all about momentum and incremental change and incremental improvements. Keep winning, keep recruiting, keep thinning out deadweight (coaches and players), keep building and eventually this program reaches its max whatever that is. Hopefully it’s somewhere above 9 wins a year.

After a few years of being consistently maxed out with the current staff and funding (think Michigan, PSU, Georgia, etc...) the team either catches lightning in a bottle or the fan base and donors now have a taste for consistent winning but demand more. At that point the program gets serious about Athletic Directors, Coaches, funding, etc...

Manny Diaz might max out as no better than James Franklin. But at least if he can squeeze that type of production out of this program that sets a floor for whoever takes his job. People keep acting like Miami very recently was the equivalent of Georgia under Richt. Those glory days will be almost 2 decades ago soon, get over it.
