So Now What?

There’s no future this program is the most dead it’s been in 20 years after today. Nothing tops This. This is truly rock bottom and I don’t think this program recovers from the hole it’s dug itself

Calling for the youth movement is something that happens almost every year (but our upperclassmen usually aren't very good). At this point if you're an upperclassman and you're slow, time to ride the pine and hit the portal/graduate after the season.

As far as Gattis, idk what to say. I don't think the fan base turned on even Enos this quickly. But just like we saw with D'Onofrio early on, it doesn't look like it's going to work long term. I don't know about firing him right now (like some have, perhaps impulsively, suggested) since I don't know if Ponce would be any better.

What's Tom Herman up to these days? Maybe he'd be interested in taking an OC position for a dumpster fire unit 1/3 of the season in.

OK time for my first non glib comment of the evening. Nothing has really changed. Honestly, I didn't have a lot of hope this season. Cristobal wasn't hired because of his coaching acumen, he was hired to recruit and build a team that was so talented it could overcome his reputation as a bad game day coach. If we got really really really lucky, he'd pull an Ed Orgeron and hire an exceptional coordinator, and we'd catch lightning in a bottle and win a Natty. Absent that lucky break , his bad coaching means his ceiling is being ACC champ once or twice over the next 8 years. This season is only relevant insofar as it affects recruiting. We need Cristobal to reel in Pancake Honcho, then do like Lincoln Riley in the off season and convince the top WRs in the country to transfer to UM. So the plan is same as it was. Get those recruits to sign the dotted line and we'll worry about next year next year.

Can somebody explain to me what makes Mario a good coach ? Even with Manny players no way do you let MTSU put up 45 at yo crib ….Folks was on here begging for us to get this dude and this the results…I had faith in this guy just off majority of the boards post about him …I had no clue about him other then he won 2 chips with the U and is from Miami …y’all sure this guy can turn us around ?

Mario has said that there are painful steps that need to be taken on the way to being where we want to be and they can’t be skipped over. I don’t think losing to MTSU was assumed to be one of those steps but losing for sure was, so there’s that. You need to give Mario 3-5 years to build his team and recruit and develop. Look at what Mark Stoops has done at Kentucky. Plenty of losses to Florida before he started beating Florida. You can insert the name of 10 coaches that have gone on to be champions that had bad first seasons. Saban, Dabo, Jimmy, and Butch are included in that list.

You make QB competition open for the next two weeks and go with whoever wins that battle. If it’s Tyler, he’s on a short leash against UNC.

For anyone who was at the stadium for this game, I don’t know how evident it was on TV, there was a complete injection of energy when Jake came on the field and started spinning it. That’s what needs to be sold to recruits. Miami fans are salivating for something to get loud about and you will become legends if/when you turn this around. So far most of the guys in the class have shown support and said they’re not wavering on social media. We’ll see if that’s everyone and who will stick come signing day. Portal needs to be hit hard as well, always, it’s just part of modern CFB.

The same TAMU that lost to APP State and we should’ve beat, just beat a very good #10 Arkansas team. This can be turned around.

Now what?

Now we hit a new rock bottom. Now we see that the talent on this team is truly not there. Now we see that our starting QB and his receivers don’t like each other. No we see that this is going to take a heck of a lot longer than expected. If at all.

its obvious lashlee put TVD in a system where he could legitimately be a top 10 pick. he may be a system QB but he was very good in that system even w his warts. lashlee masked it which is what coaches do. its gattis as a bad fit for the roster and Mario has a prehistoric ape when it comes to coaching winning football in 2022. he not even running the ball better than the team in Oxford who we stole their best back and RB coach

Kyle Trask will never see a meaningful NFL snap but Dan Mullets offense made him look like a Heisman candidate. TVD was on that same trajectory until Gattis/Cristobal destroyed the offense.

lost to middle Tennessee. they're worse than app state lol. Mario will have to become a better coach and change everything he knows about coaching to fix this. we will never recruit the way atm does bc we dont spend 200 mill or w.e. it was on a class

If we use that type of deductive reasoning then the TAMU team that we should’ve beat, who lost to app state and beat #10 Arkansas, tells us we can beat Arkansas? That type of reasoning doesn’t work because teams matchup differently. Mario needs to recruit his butt off and doesn’t need to change what he knows about coaching. His job is to surround himself with the coordinators that can get the job done and let them call plays.

Dabo’s 4 recruiting classes before his first title in 2016 were ranked 20, 15, 16, 9 from 2012-2015. Btw Miami’s classes in that time frame were 10, 14, 12, 27.

he doesn't know how to manage a clock. he should start to learn that first.

Now, Mario will bull**** his way into convincing some of the tards on here in the next two weeks that he has made changes and we have a chance against, North Carolina. Which, of course, we do not. After that it will be we can beat this,or that team, more coach speak, and a losing record. That is what is next. This mess is unfixable. The players quit on Gattis and Mario today. 4 games in and they flat out quit. You don’t get better from that unless you dump the starters and play the coachable youth. And Mario is too stupid to do that.
The coaches aren't great but these South Florida kids are massive pussies
