So Jake is starting this week

Brown needs to be ready. Why? Because Garcia doesnt look to stand much of a chance behind that line. He was getting MAULED vs Duke. TVD got MAULED obviously and neither one is nimble enough to avoid a consistent mauling.
The line issue is huge especially coupled with his constant holding and holding the ball on the first read till something happens. Get ready for a large amount of strip sacks. He has that mentality where he wants to make a big play downfield all the time, and you can see him just holding it staring at a guy to come open which is a terrible thing combined with this line. I don't like his game........wish him all the best. But Jacurri better be ready.

This should be interesting. Four throws last week were about as bad as I have seen. I'm not dogging him yet but if he makes similar decisions we are in for a very long day.

I'd like to see us try to establish the run. We haven't done so in over a month with much success. That said being this unbalanced is a recipe for disaster with a young and inexperienced QB.
Jake is a gunslinger. He is not near as safe with his throws as TVD. I expect the int to continue.

Hoping Jake comes in confident and gets the ball out where it needs to go and avoids major mistakes. Hoping Gattis/Mario put our guys in position to make plays. Best of luck to Jake! How is TVD doing BTW?

You know who else might be the worst P5 team in the country?

Jesus. This is the same guy that nearly everyone was clamoring for after MTSU. Now he sucks based on an admittedly awful performance in an awful situation. This board is bipolar. Do you all remember TVD's 1st start against UVA? Go back and read posts about the board's assessment of his performance.

Anyways, I'm not ready to throw the towel on him yet. And no one else should either. We haven't seen enough to judge him yet. He's gonna get a lot of reps this week and hopefully the staff puts him in a position to play to his strengths. He's got a week mentally to prepare for the fact he's starting so let's see if he puts the prep work in and plays well. Give him a shot. Slow down with the slander.

And yeah, he looked awful Saturday. It looked to me that he'd look at first read and if it wasn't there, he didn't know what to do. Way too much time in the pocket. I'd like to see him utilize his mobility and get out of the pocket and pick up some cheap yards if there isn't anything available. But he can't take that many sacks.

*edit. Also, this OL needs to help him out and block. He did really poorly when he faced blitz but the OL did 0 favors. RBs picking up blitzers will be vital.

This is what we were told. Jake is pretty much an all or nothing guy aka Jacory Harris. Better be prepared for the pitchforks if he comes out throwing picks.
I'm sure MC will give him a long leash, given the circumstances.

As a fanbase this season has mentally broken most of us. Several insiders have left due to the pressure this season has put on bad habits. Given what we've experienced as a fanbase for upwards of most current recruits' lifetimes, that's an impressive feat.

I'll watch with no expectations and still expect to somehow be disappointed. Likely when the team finds a new way to lose a close game that we should have had in the bag. It is what it is.

Doesn't matter who starts, Mario, Gattis, Miami women, green tree itself, or whatever curse was placed upon us will find a way to turn whatever positives we have into non-developing negatives. I'll just watch and appreciate that football at least exists.

at this point WGAS!!! just roll someone out there, the OL will get any of them kill so it doesn't matter!!!

we'll see after getting most of the reps with the 1's. He does make quick decisions and gets the ball out faster than TVD who takes long to process developing plays. I attribute the bad throws to feeling rushed to make big plays since we are usually already in a hole when he comes in and getting in synch with his receivers.

I agree we need to get more balanced, or at the very least simplify things in the passing games for him to make the read and get the throw out fast.

Its all about the Oline. If they dont pass block, i dont see Jake being successful. He simply isn’t as mobile and aware in the pocket as he needs to be behind this line. For that reason, i like getting Brown ready because the dline on the opposing team then has something to think about.
