So if we do not run the table the last six games

I am probably on a downer from last night but Mario's past tells me the Canes will lose at least two games a season. A two-loss ACC team is unlikely play in the ACCCG and out of the 12-team CFP.

FYI - Franklin made the CFP last season and went to the Final Four, losing to Notre Dame. He was fired for quickly failing this season's expectations by losing at UCLA and Northwestern at home while a prohibitive favorite.

A recruiting class here. A couple portal pick ups there. Sprinkle in some practice reports. I should be back to 12-0 by the start of August.
Boom. We’re going to sign a decent class full of hopefuls. Gonna get a couple portal additions that we’ll say are all Americans, and hear some great things out of Greentree…should be all set for an undefeated off season

I have a feeling Beck has hurt his arm again ,maybe from a hit or a tackle.Other teams have tape that shows we just won’t run anything more than a foot right or left of the center so they’re going to put 7-8 guys in those gaps to stop the run game and see if Beck can beat them which I sincerely doubt he can so I’m expecting no less than 1 more loss and very possibly two ( SMU and PITT ) and as usual we will end up playing in the weed eater bowl in Shreveport again…

How do you have any faith that we will ever make the playoffs with Mario as coach? This is essentially what got James Franklin fired.

James Franklin lost the locker room during a three game losing streak. Not even close to being the same.

Franklin never won the Big Ten and defeated juggernauts SMU and Boise to make the final four. At least PSU won the games they were supposed to. They just never beat the really good teams. Mario is like the anti-James Franklin. Show up to your rivals and lose to mid tier teams.

Won it in 2016

The sky is falling mopes are out and about. One game at a time. If we win out we’re in that’s all that matters.
Friend, that simply isn't going to happen.

There is simply no realistic scenario for that path through SEC + B1G slot allotments.

This isn't mopery, that's facing the reality of the situation since before kickoff of game 1.

There is zero chance 11-1 Miami gets left out of the CFP.
I want you to be correct, however that position is 180 degree opposite everything the commitee has messaged for months, and further reiterated all day today by the CFB commentariart unless 11-1 Miami is actually 12-1 Miami ACC Champions.

We don't like the rules, but we also don't get to wish different rules into existence.

Doesn't make them right, but radio announcers on Ole Miss vs UGA broadcast just stated, "...you can easily see a 2, even 3 loss SEC team in the playoff before a Big 12 or ACC runner up, that makes it hard for teams like Miami or Texas Tech if they don't get to their championship games..."

For this to be true, you have to believe one of the following:

1. They're going to have us around #20 in the first CFP poll, despite having just one loss
2. They're going to have us higher, around #13 or #14, but keep teams ahead of us even when they lose their second game

Neither scenario is realistic.

Hear me out...

Forget SEC and B1G for a moment...

The polls, FPI, SOR, etc...with a won out Virginia and Louie...

they aren't going to be slotted over Miami?

Just that alone is ouch...

Now add SEC/B1G bias....those last 7 slots are going to go very fast...

No one seems to be able to put forward a coherent math argument to the contrary...

I was on this from game 1 because I'm a data dude, and not oft for emotional hand wringing...and that's all I keep hearing...

I will be very happy to be very wrong.

There were only 3 1 loss teams last year
We didn't get in as a 2 loss team because we did t have a big win
