So if an 8-4 record gets Diaz and Blake fired

Imo, we can go 6-7 & nothing will happen.

They're not firing Manny in year 3 on a 5-year contract. We'd have to go 4-8 for that to happen, even I think we'll do better than that. Next year I think is put up or shut up time where you have to win bare minimum 9 games and play Clemson competitively in the conference title game. But that's just my opinion, doesn't make it reality.

It’s not even about that to me. Personally I think he can win anywhere from 9-11 games this year my issue is I doubt 9 moves the needle with recruits.

Miami went downhill when recruiting became national. When recruiting was a regional game, Miami was able to keep most of the local talent home. And at that time, the gap between the SFL athletes and just about every other region was even bigger. Now, the rest of the country is training just as much as the SFL kids, and the advent of the internet/Rivals/247/YouTube allows much easier poaching.

Miami never won because of coaching. They didn’t win in spite of it, aka our coaches were competent. But they won because they had far better athletes. That’s no longer the case. And probably never will be for the reasons I mentioned. You can be recruited by anyone in the country now and you can get to their campus easily and quickly. All things that didn’t exist 30, 25, 20 years ago.

Back to the discussion at hand, 8-4 absolutely doesn’t get anyone fired. Not even a question.

The national reaction would be?

We don't even have UF or FSU money.

UCF, USF, etc don't get the conference money we do, but I bet their alumni donations outpace ours.

The state schools in conference all likely have a better warchest than we do going forward. Alumni is the key. We may have some with big pockets, but those schools will nickel and dime it higher.

We've got an uphill battle in what has simply become a money game.
Uphill battle for sure.

Miami’s alumni numbers are too small and undergraduate student body is too small. There are only 11,300 undergraduates, and only 10-15% of that number probably cares about football. So, you’re talking “maybe” 1500 students attending a home game.

Those are the biggest obstacles for $$$ donations for football and for attendance to games.

Agree with this I just disagree with the faction that says we wait too long to fire people

Cannot give him an extension. CANNOT!
Them consider giving him an extension is gonna be a real thing after this season cuz we will get negative recruited that he is about to be fired. So we gonna have to weigh them against each other especially with the early signing period. Lets hope he gets a great recruiting class in 2022. The next one is where Shannon, Richt and Golden fell flat into the mud on their face.

We've won 8+ games in back to back seasons in 04-05 and 15-17.

There's lowering expectations, and there's being realistic about who you are.

There's a fine line between dealing with adversity and just quitting when things aren't going your way.

8-4 would be remarkable considering we've allowed 143 points in our last 3 games.

Saying we aren’t going 8-4 isn’t defending anyone Nick.

Just like saying Matt Campbell and Jimbo Fisher would take jobs here doesn’t makes you a better fan. It just makes you completely out of touch with reality
Ok I’ll give you that even though I don’t believe it. But will you admit that absolutely Bill Clarke would take a promotion to come here and so would Lule Fickell since they are both are at group of five programs? And will you also admit that both those coaches are miles and miles ahead of our coach manny and his lack of talent and knowledge of the game he’s pretending to coach?

I cannot wait for the App State game so we can move on from the severe depression so many on this board have after Bama.

#1 Alabama 52 - #5 Texas A&M 24
#1 Alabama 52 - #3 Ohio State 24

You all need to completely realign with reality. If we play poorly against App State then by all means, have your meltdowns. But this week has been insufferable because all of you refuse to come to terms with the fact that Alabama is capable of destroying, not beating, but destroying literally any team in college football and that somehow means Miami should shut the program down.

Bama is a semi-pro outfit but let's not ignore that they were breaking in new starters at QB, RB, WR1, WR2, TE, LT, LG, C, RT. Most of us expected a better showing by the more experienced team but instead were reminded that players don't develop here.

Well, that would force James to have a year end meeting with manny to discuss the future of the program. And James could then say, “ 6-7 isn’t good enough at Miami and we all want to win and no one wants to win more than coach Diaz. at Mia I, we expect to compete for championships and coach Diaz has a plan to do that”
