So if an 8-4 record gets Diaz and Blake fired

Nothing wrong with whack-a-mole. Just saying. Fun game.
Why do you think I've been a season ticket holder through this! And, traveled to games and moped my *** around random cities - the height of which was being yelled at from across the street that "we're losers living in the past" by a college kid wearing a spiderman costume in Boston College. Woo!

What third year coach ever got fired after an 8 win season? Name the program and show me how it advanced them.

I do not understand how this board continually calls for the heads of coaches without assuming Miami can find equal or less talented replacements.
The manager at the local McDonald's is as qualified to coach miami as diaz.

The national reaction would be?

Reality from Universities perspective:

6-6 might get the "Not the standard" public statement. Maybe

7-5 fans would complain on CIS. BOT/BJ would be silent/content

8-4 administration is happy. Winning is hard. Fans are impossible

9-3
Extension. Guaran-F'n-tee. They will give the man more time

10-2 Keys to the University. Rename building after him. Hail CMD

The irony of that kid. Good stuff Lu.

The bigger question is what record would get him an extension. I hope he doesn't get an extension unless we win double digits and play for the ACC. We made the mistake with Golden and Shannon because of recruiting, which is a real thing to consider. If he goes 9 wins we must make him play atleast half of the season next year before giving him a new contract. 8 wins or more is not gonna get him fired. He will achieve that.

I'll try this again.

Historically this is who we are. We had a run, roughly 20 or so years, but that's it.

Who was Jimmy before here?

Who was Erickson before here?

Butch?

Howard was easily our most accomplished coach on hire. The others, they hadn't hit it big time and were largely just cutting their teeth beforehand.

College football is about resources. The gap between us and the big powerhouse programs and even the state schools has never been wider. The pay the top coaches are getting these days compared to your normal coaches is growing as well.

Can we get back on top. My opinion is if we get the right up and comer coach one day, like we did before, we can make some good runs here and there. We won't see dominance like we did before and the problem is money. Alabama's dominance is what we did in college (don't care about the NFL) and up a floor or two. They have 6 in 11 years. We had 4 in 10 or 5 in 18.

Our recruiting area is out of this world. It doesn't mean much though if you want to get to the too, but can't land the elite recruits. It's the only reason we aren't a five hundred team on the regular. That and there's some allure to Miami and S FL. This NIL deal **** just made our job tougher to land the elite talent in our backyard. NIL will be a focus in recruiting and when schools point out what their guys are making and then ours, it's likely a wrap besides the odd recruit.

It all is what it is. We got spoiled there a bit. We rocked the college football landscape, changed the game, and then they caught up restoring the order that had been around for a century. We were the little renegade upstart that wasn't ever supposed to do what we did, but we sure as **** did.
Those coaches were serious hires. Our last 4 weren't.

Yes miami is a small school with less resources than the big boys. The advantage we have is location.

Hire a coach with a clear vision and modern scheme. Pack recruiters around him. Start winning 10 games a year and finishing top 10 for a few years and watch miami take off again.

Its actually very simple.

Cannot give him an extension. CANNOT!

It's relative. We aren't going to have Bama, OSU, or Texas money. But, as my post indicates, we have yet to make a genuine investment in the athletic program.

We don't even have UF or FSU money.

UCF, USF, etc don't get the conference money we do, but I bet their alumni donations outpace ours.

The state schools in conference all likely have a better warchest than we do going forward. Alumni is the key. We may have some with big pockets, but those schools will nickel and dime it higher.

We've got an uphill battle in what has simply become a money game.

Win 10 games and finish top 10, they'll be out of here and you're back to square one. Someone is paying more than we can for those results.

If it was so simple, it would've been done. I think you don't grasp what the game has become and I'm no expert, but I've seen the light.

I've said it for 15 years. The smartest thing we could control is to help each other out and hopefully one of us becomes a billionaire.

I promise you I won't take any pictures eating lollipops at clubs with our players. Wouldn't even know I exist.

Exactly this! Momentum has to keep moving forward for him to be extended

I totally understand your point about the change in college football.

Miami is and always will be different because of location. If the admin refuses to pay a coach to stay then thats on them.
