So if an 8-4 record gets Diaz and Blake fired

It's the same old Miami minus a few great years some of us were lucky to be alive for and see.

Hopefully we can have some more special years over the course of the rest of my lifetime. It's going to be tough to get a shot at a title and downright impossible to be a perennial power like we used to be.

That can all change though if one of you strikes oil, wins the lottery, or whatever. You just have to donate **** tons so we can all yell a bit louder and act like we matter.

No its not. We had a 20 year period where we were Alabama dominant.

We are in the richest recruiting grounds in the country.

If you almost always make changes only when your back is against the wall, you'll end up playing whack-a-mole for 20 years.
What would making changes in a “position of strength” look like? Serious question no trolling. I really enjoy your posts I’m also an alum. I’ve often asked myself what happened if they fired manny as Soon as he hit 4 loses and coastal was out of play?” I think most in the industry would say we’re nuts.

An 8-4 record is unlikely to get Diaz fired.

We are an 8-4 program right now. We have an 8-4 infrastructure. The University itself, outside of a few areas of focus, is 8-4 (I feel ok saying that as a graduate).

Anything above that or slightly below is a "nice to have."

Their message is likely "be happy if/when we win 9 games and our first bowl victory since the advent of the internet. Progress."

it was 8-4 with an occasional 9-3 under donna. more of a 7-5 university under frenk.

You’re right, we’re going 7-5 with this same undisciplined, unprepared and unmotivated team combo with mannys Mickey Mouse defense scheme that every acc coach knows how to attack along with lashleys unimaginative offense. Oh and our yearly bowl game loss at a bowl in Louisiana during Christmas that the kids have no desire to be at and quit on manny for the third straight year. So your right, he won’t go and 8-4, he’ll go 7-6 and god willing will get Blake and him fired for the malpractice by both that was committed against his university in manures hiring at the cost of 4 million to Temple in all of about 5 minutes. Will you be sad when Manny and Blake are fired Go Canes? Will you be sad that there mediocrity will no longer be with this program? I only ask because you sure do defend them at every turn, it’s just weird someone who claims to be a FAN, would defend two people that have shown how incompetent they are and how terrible they have been for this program?

Saying we aren’t going 8-4 isn’t defending anyone Nick.

Just like saying Matt Campbell and Jimbo Fisher would take jobs here doesn’t makes you a better fan. It just makes you completely out of touch with reality

You think we’re better than 8-4? Interesting.

I agree but I'll be cautiously optimistic if a veteran AD type is hired when Flake is canned. Mark Richt - a coach - was able to drive the building of an IPF (as well as other major improvements). Imagine what a competent AD can do. But, someone needs to hire that AD and that's the problem.

We at least at worst going 9-3 and we should beat everyone else on the schedule if the OL doesn't have mental lapses. They aren't seeing a DL like that all year and they didn't quit. So we will see....I don't want those hiccup games like UNC or nail biters.
We aren't going to see another defense that is anywhere close to what Bama has. They were touting that as the best defense Saban's had since like 2012 or some ****, and this was before we kicked off, then proceeded to 100% believe it.

I think others who are close to the University - we have CFOs, attorneys, and other high-level University Admin folks who post on this board - would tell you it's about proactive financial commitment with the [limited] resources we have. The University can (and has in the past!) done some amazing things when it focuses on an area. That is yet to be seen within our athletic department. If you have a problem for 20 years, I think it's safe to say it isn't at the surface. Diaz is at the surface.

Everyone needs to relax. Saturday will let everyone know how the rest of the season is going to go. App state is very reminiscent of Louisville’s offense.
Let’s see if the coaches haven’t loss the locker room cause if there is any loss of focus or motivation its going to be a long night.

Who in their right mind would want jimbo.

There are tons of coaches we could get but that would require making a serious hire.

What third year coach ever got fired after an 8 win season? Name the program and show me how it advanced them.

I do not understand how this board continually calls for the heads of coaches without assuming Miami can find equal or less talented replacements.

I'll try this again.

Historically this is who we are. We had a run, roughly 20 or so years, but that's it.

Who was Jimmy before here?

Who was Erickson before here?

Butch?

Howard was easily our most accomplished coach on hire. The others, they hadn't hit it big time and were largely just cutting their teeth beforehand.

College football is about resources. The gap between us and the big powerhouse programs and even the state schools has never been wider. The pay the top coaches are getting these days compared to your normal coaches is growing as well.

Can we get back on top. My opinion is if we get the right up and comer coach one day, like we did before, we can make some good runs here and there. We won't see dominance like we did before and the problem is money. Alabama's dominance is what we did in college (don't care about the NFL) and up a floor or two. They have 6 in 11 years. We had 4 in 10 or 5 in 18.

Our recruiting area is out of this world. It doesn't mean much though if you want to get to the too, but can't land the elite recruits. It's the only reason we aren't a five hundred team on the regular. That and there's some allure to Miami and S FL. This NIL deal **** just made our job tougher to land the elite talent in our backyard. NIL will be a focus in recruiting and when schools point out what their guys are making and then ours, it's likely a wrap besides the odd recruit.

It all is what it is. We got spoiled there a bit. We rocked the college football landscape, changed the game, and then they caught up restoring the order that had been around for a century. We were the little renegade upstart that wasn't ever supposed to do what we did, but we sure as **** did.
