So, I thought the Gaytors were going to take a step back, but...

...I've been reading about the Gates the last couple of days that they are better than I thought they would be this season. I thought they lost a lot and their QB seemed OK, but not special. But, I'm guessing.

For you experts out there, how good will they be this year and how do they line up against us?

Typical Gators preseason hype. They had 7 guys drafted, lost 22 transfers and only signed 8 transfers. They have an injury prone QB and will rely heavy on freshman and sophomore and in my opinion, it simply won’t be enough.

Two preseason AA's on their OL.
One in their DL.
If the QB plays well, they will be decent. If he gets banged up with their schedule they will struggle.
Can't overlook how they ended the season last year.

Yes, you absolutely CAN overlook "how they ended the season last year.

Ooooh, they won FOUR games in a row after being 4-5. Let's review, shall we.

First, in Hogtown, they beat a floundering LSU team that lost 3 of its final 5 games, managing to run themselves out of the Top 25. LSU's 2 victories in the final 5 games were over a 6-6 regular season Vandy and a 6-6 regular season Oklahoma. Impressive. LSU's 2024 regular season finish:

Second, they beat Ole Miss at home by a TD. This is the only victory that is mildly impressive.

Third, they beat a 2-10 F$U team. Enough said.

Finally, they beat Tulane in a ****** bowl game. Tulane, a team that lost its final 3 games.

So, uh, yeah, if we think this is some sort of impressive end to a season where they opened up 4-5, that's your own interpretation of things. It is not some major accomplishment. LSU, F$U, and Temple were not good teams. Ole Miss was good.

I am overlooking how they ended the season last year.

Tulane didn't have Mensa for the bowl game either lol

I have no idea if they'll be good this year, but this is an extremely misleading post.

They started playing better football well before their last 4 games. They had the blowout in Texas while missing a ton of starters, but before that they were extremely competitive vs Tenn and UGA away from home, in addition to blowing out some weaker teams.

Also, LSU was good last year. The argument that they weren't is pure cherry picking. Yes they were flawed, but that was a good W.

They're a SEC team profiting from the increased hype their conference has received recently. It went as far as ESPN adjusting their preseason rankings for no reason weeks before the season, where every single SEC team received a boost.

It's a media campaign, nothing more.

Are those the same OL and DL that got bullied by us? They'll get bullied again.

They have less on their roster than last year. The numbers have already been posted in this thread.

I don't want to hear sh** about some Heisman hype for a QB that threw 9 TDs and 9 INTs against FBS opponents.

No need for speculation. We'll know all we need to know about the Gators when they play LSU on the road.

Lagway is legit. Anytime you have a guy like him at the most important position in the sport you have shot.

On a side note…**** em, I hope they don’t win a game.

Their DL lost:
- Cam Jackson
- D’Antre Robinson
- Desmond Watson
- Jack Pyburn
- TJ Searcy
- Kelby Collins
- Justus Boone

Cam and Pyburn would have both started on that DL. The rest are depth but they did not add a bunch behind that. May not matter early in the season but with Banks already in a boot (not sure how long) you can’t lose much and still endure when you lose that many DL in the SEC.

Back of the top 25 type team. Somewhere between 15-25. So a good team, we will need to play well against to win.

Brain dead people pumping Florida. Added nothing significant in terms of ready players, sure couple of young freshman WR's which if they hit cool. That O-line sent Mertz to the hospital against us and we should be better on the D-line. DJ sure does have raw talent, so does AR.... stay healthy and show you can pass vs real teams.
