So here’s what’s going to happen over the next 10 days

We’re going to be so sick of Mendoza by the time the game gets here.
I get it. He’s a feel good story. He seems like a really good kid, bright, great player, family oriented… he checks all the boxes.
Aren't we all close to our family? Do the right thing? Work hard?

Not directed at you but the notion that a paid college football player is somehow better than us normal folk because he simply does what most people do makes me wanna vomit

The media puts these types of guys on an unneccessary pedestal

They were playing that night for the National Championship against the vastly outmatched Miami Hurricanes at the home field of the Hurricanes.

Fast forward 46 years later…
Oklahoma was also favored against the Canes in January 1988.
We know how that turned out in Miami.
