So...Franklin should have gotten more snaps all year...But why burn his redshirt against Duke?

When you are talking about a guy who projects to play, redshirts are now for medical purposes only, unless it just turns out he doesn't see many snaps (a future QB starter may fall into this category).

Otherwise, they are playing.

He wasn’t better than Don..he wasn’t better than cam..he isn’t better than DBHS finest..he came into camp out of shape…brashard should be RB 2 for the bowl.

I'm not in the "redshirt everyone" crowd...CFB isn't the same as it was 10 years ago. I'd LIKE to see O-line and kids that def need weight redshirt, kids that you take on measurable but are really raw as players...Sure. But for the most part I'm all for playing freshmen

That being said. Why was Franklin's redshirt burned against Duke. I mean the kid looks better than Brown to me...And I was calling for some Franklin snaps midseason. But he was sitting on 4 games heading into Duke...The worst ACC team I've seen in 4-5 years (Worse than '20 Case) At that point there was no need to use him! I do hope he had a choice in the matter pre-game, and I would like to think he did.
I see what you're saying man. Setting aside the debate over whether Thad should've played all along. Its a matter of whether they should've burned his redshirt in the FINAL game of the season, against a team so bad that Rizk got snaps at QB.

The answer is still the same unfortunately. Our coach has no roster management skills whatsoever. Manny also probably didn't care about the roster's future at that point either. And like everyone says, Thad is likely around for 4 years max no matter what. So the redshirt was always irrelevant.

Why does that matter? Most people think they’re worth more than they are, that’s not exclusive to college football players. Also that article is from 2019, the landscape has changed a lot in the last two years
Yes, now there are more guys in the portal, often over-estimating their actual value.
