I wonder if South Florida is going through a little bit of what Texas went through in the 80s and early 90s. Press started hailing Texas HS football kids as heroes, movies were made, books were written, the good ones got handlers and treated like kings, the in state colleges had a run of horrible coaches, and before you knew it seemed like the stuff that made them special in the first place wasn’t there any more... at least not to the same degree.
Used to think of South Florida football kids as a tougher than tough breed.... and of course some still are, but wondering if the culture rotting is hurting the on field product some. There will always be Sony Michels and Amari Coopers and and Dalvin Cooks... its a ton of good genetics geographically piled on top of each other and bunching up on the same few teams,.... but wonder if there aren’t as many Trajan Bandys as there used to be.
Not saying that’s what it is, just wondering aloud. I don’t feel like we (our SoFla kids) appear very tough any more, or mentally different than anyone else. We’re just like every other 9-4 team.
