SMUs top 10 to replace DC

Let's take a look at Manny's last 6 hires from the last two off-seasons (not his first one)

Rhett Lashlee: highly regarded and successful coming in.

Garin Justice: solid pickup with HC experience.

Rob Likens: produced 2 first round picks at ASU, OC experience.

Trob: Arguably the best DB coach that could've been made. 1st round picks. DC experience in the SEC.

Simpson: years of HC experience in HS. NFL experience. Solid pickup.

DVD: gives your post validation as he was promoted from within.

5/6 last hires have been very good. Maybe DVD has a special quality that we will see as he isnthe outlier recently.

So, I wouldnt say Manny would promote a QC analyst just because lol

UNLESS - there's someone on staff named Two-Beer-Cindy. And then SHE'D get the job.

A good executive hires the best people - people that are BETTER than him at their job!

Your post is valid and factual....I think we're all just a bit letdown because we were taken up the roller coaster by all these tweets saying "multiple DEF hires coming" and so on......just to get the wind knocked out of our sails when CMD obviously misses on his guy and decides to demote Baker to LB coach and take over DC responsibilities himself for the 2021 season. To touch on the DVD situation he's not really the CBs coach in responsibilities, he's the Asst Secondary coach to TRob, which is a win for us because he's very popular in the SoFLA recruiting scene. So really outside of the Baker situation Manny has nailed it.....even had he canned Baker, promoted Patke to LB coach and gave TRob/Simpson Co-DC titles and still ran the DEF himself I personally would've liked that much better than allowing Baker to stick around.....

Side note: Can you imagine what it's like to be Baker out in public in Miami??? LOL dude is probably ecstatic about wearing a mask in public so no one can recognize him :ROFLMAO:

Still holding out hope Baker doesn’t like the demotion and finds another job. There is no reason to believe that Manny wouldn’t hire a better LB coach if he left with all the other hires he made the last couple years. Plus losing Baker’s salary would free up close to $1M.

It’s wild to me how a coach is more loyal to a friend than he is desperate to succeed at his job. Imagine if folden had canned noD. He very well may still be here who knows. Or he’d have lasted longer and made more money. Right now tho his career is toast where it could’ve been going smooth.
 
I refuse to believe Manny is THAT F@*!ing blind that he can't see what we see.

What I do believe is Manny still feels HE is the guy to fix the problem. So he's going to waste the year believing he can be both HC and DC, and at the end of another 9-3 / 8-4 season with 2-3 of those losses due to the defense, he's going to go out and hire a real DC.

Manny, like most coaches, is stubborn. Golden and Richt suffered from the same disease. Most coaches are stubborn as ****!
