Interesting watch to get a read on how lashlees passing attack might look for us given the dykes influence. I’m pretty sure SMU will be running the same system as last year.

Outside of that one play that was called back, I haven't been impressed with their opening drive.

Very unimpressive performance so far by this SMU offense that should be cruising by Texas states defense

Posted it back in January in the Offseason coaching moves thread, Garrett Riley Lincoln's younger brother has never called plays before when he was at ECU & App St.

@TimeB0mb called it that he was gonna struggle as a first time OC trying to replace Lashlee.

And even though I don't think we'd really have a shot, I wish we wouldn't have been wasting all our time chasing after Garcia & instead put all effort into trying to convince Preston Stone & his Pops that he'll really be wasting his talent going to SMU without Lashlee there. But given the fact his dad is on the Board of trustees at SMU I'm certain he's been told by Dykes he'll be guaranteed to start as a TF the moment he enrolls.

They look nothing like last year.
wasn’t expecting the same but definitely wasn’t expecting scoreless in the 1st qtr and 11 to go in the second and they’ve put up a goose egg.

Thanks for the shout-out. The signs that it was going to be a bumpy start were all there. If the OC's last name wasn't Riley, he wouldn't have been hired by any legit program to be the OC, let alone one that had just lost a premier OC to UM. Not only was Riley a first time play caller, but Dykes had decided that he was going to go from Lashlee's offense (which ironically, is more like Lincoln Riley's offense because it features a heavy dose of the run game) to a "traditional Air Raid." So you had a first time OC coming to a program where the HC had ALSO decided to change his offensive scheme. So now all the players have to learn the new offense as well. It was a recipe for disaster. It was part of the reason I guessed that Stone was the darkhorse prospect because as much has dad loves SMU, I doubt he'll want to see his son waste his college career in a middling offense. That might be fine if he was at a major P5 since there would be lots of film for NFL teams to study against top competition, but having a mediocre offense in a mediocre conference and playing against mediocre opponents, it will tank his draft stock. Lashlee recruited Stone at SMU and they have a great relationship, so Miami is the only team that could possibly get Stone away from SMU. I think a lot comes down to what Stone's dad wants, but if the offense remains putrid and Miami lights it up, I think he flips.

We really have nothing to lose, I say we go all out & do all we can to get him to try & flip.

His dad will be the biggest obstacle to overcome, but we could sell him on the Coral Gables lifestyle being very similar to the kind of affluent upbringing that Preston is used to & the fact we have elite top tier medical facilities & have handled Covid probably better than just about any other athletic program in the country.

You can get to the NFL from anywhere especially at QB, but man that kid needs to be playing P5 ball & you surround him with Miami weapons in an offense that's conducive to high level productivity & he'd be a day 1 draft pick after 3 years.

Should have taken the over and Texas State to cover. I need to find a good betting site. Easy money on the Canes to beat the spread.

#2 for Texas State trying to play like Johnny Manziel
That's Brady McBride, he transferred over from Memphis, he's a local Texas kid from Coppell (just North of Dallas).

He was a Norvell/Dilingham recruit, he was low rated coming out of HS but was productive & has some good natural talent.
