Slow starts must be corrected.

This. I feel like it got overlooked bc of how bad our offense was. But Manny got out coached in most first halves last year. Now that he’s the head man, he absolutely can’t let that happen anymore
You mean Blake can't right. How did La tech's defense do in the 1st half of games

Until he coaches a game here it’s somewhat irrelevant. Different players, different league, everything is different. It was mannys job last year and he struggled with that part. It’s his whole team this year, but you can’t tell me he won’t have more of a say on defense than anywhere else. It’s still on him to clean that up. He’s gonna be the one gameplanning

Im sure Enos will be doing more scripting early than the previous regime.
I’m pretty sure Richt used to script the first 5 or so plays of the first 8 drives or something... honestly I’d like less scripting and more situational play calling.

Imagine how great it would be to not have to hope for miracle 4th quarter comebacks against garbage teams?

The defense would occasionally come out slow and give up an early score but our superior staff on that side of the ball would actually make adjustments and shut down the opponent the rest of the way.
The offense would come out and lay a **** right away. Then continue to lay turds throughout the entire game, desperately hoping that what was not working would eventually magically start working.

To be fair everyone in the world had an advance copy of Richts script. Run, Run , incompletion, 25 yard punt

We can sit here and nitpick every little thing in the off-season but we all know that if we had anything close to a pulse on offense this team goes to the ACC championship and a top bowl game last year. It's easy for a team like Wisconsin to run all over you if you have no counter-punch. We had 169 total yards in offense in our bowl game.....let that sink in for a minute.

Ahhhhh . . . . no.

When leading at the end of the 3rd, we win most of the time.

When losing at the end of the 3rd, we lose most of the time.

Simply, it's an objectively verifiable empirical fact that the team entering the 4th quarter with the lead unsually wins. Under the circumstances, diminishing the importance starting fast manifests a near pathological level of ignorance, if not impairment, so profound it rises to the level of a likely irredeemable character flaw.

I remember getting that much in a quarter. That's just a pathetic number.

Meh. The game is won in the 4th.

Not really. Statistically, there is a large correlation between scoring first and ultimately winning the game. There is also a huge correlation between winning the first quarter and ultimately winning the game.

Now some of that is just correlation. The better team is probably going to win most every drive and every quarter. So what one really just needs to do is be really good and the rest takes care of itself.

But to the extent it’s important to win a point in the game, the beginning seems to have the most importance.
