Sleeper Hire To Match Our Talent Pool

Venables would be a great hire and would actually be a guy that could put some energy back in the Canes. Everyone hating on Venables is forgetting about the fact that Jimmy Johnson came in with fans and the media asking who he was, and he let the kids play what became known as Miami football. Venables could probably do the same.
He has no head coaching experience, true, but the guy has been a defensive coordinator for some pretty good teams and has coached the top-ranked defense in the country the past two years. Pair that with being one of the top recruiters in college football, and he would have the potential to be a phenomenal hire--that we could actually afford. Then factor in that we just weakened a conference opponent, and he only looks like a better hire.
The best Miami teams have been defensive teams. And the best Miami teams were the teams that were so unique from the rest of college football. Bring in Venables when everyone else is focusing on offense and focus on being the number one defense in college football once again.
