He’s basically Jakai Clark. I’m convinced Mario wants a pipeline to Bishop Gorman and cut a deal guaranteeing him a starting job. No other reason he’s playing.

Not good if he is getting PT because he’s better than the other options. Not good at all. And there really isn’t any other explanation for it. I mean there is big difference between a weak link and a giant hole in the fence. Our OL has the latter.

I mean it’s “cost you a shot at playing for the ACC title” bad. And the shame of it is that it’s simply a horrible eval and maybe a bit of hubris by two coaches who are considered the best OL coaches in the biz. Even if you think you can develop him, at least find a serviceable player in the portal. That way you aren’t being forced to play SJ if he flops.

Really really wanted them to spend the cash on Seaton. Would have made a huge difference.

At this point, there is no defending that PFF performance. You cannot pay your QB 4+ million dollars and have that protecting him.
 
If we don't reach our goals this season due to the OL it's 100% on Mario because it didn't need to be like this. Let's keep it 100, Mario could have went in the portal and grabbed two proven OL starters with ease! We have the Nil to do it. We have the coaching and location to do it. Mario decided against it and decided to roll with completely in house guys to replace 4 starter's. He chose the difficult route for whatever reason. So if it's the college football playoffs or against ND and our Guards are getting absolutely demolished it's on him.

That’s fine but theyre also both 6’6 behemoths.

Sure they could be better than SJ and Buchanan right?
 
I think you can live with playing Buchanon at one the guard spots all season but you absolutely can’t with SJ. Mario and Mirabal really need to start thinking about maybe McCoy going to guard then have either Cantwell or Hawks at RT. I know that’s unlikely plus I think McCoy is better at tackle but we can’t keep trotting SJ out there he’s awful.
