Bell is the kid that should have stayed. Imo if we are just looking at best options.

We got screwed bad with the 5 year rule. I dont think Bell even wanted to come back, he didnt really try.. But I have to think if 5 year rule is in place prior, Anez Cooper could have been convinced instead of 6th round pick.. Bell would of been MAJOR but we can see the value of what a Cooper would have bought now also.. Not super high ceiling but extremely high consistent battle tested floor..

Cooper comes back, plays guard, SJ sits, then Cantwell comes in plays T or G, moves McCoy inside, Buchanan doesn’t sniff a starting job. Then figure out what to do with Rodriguez. Sucks.
 
Wake was throwing a ton of movement at us and scheming it up to confuse our linemen. Even Samson was confused badly on at least three plays I remember from rewatch.

I don’t think they trusted the freshmans to be able to handle that at all.

The freshmans are too tall and play too high at the moment to handle guard and can’t be trusted on the edge to protect your Heisman level qb.

Mario and Mirabel put themselves in this pickle and they’re going to have to coach their way out of it. Godspeed.

ALOT of teams do movement and simulated pressures and such.. Everybody is copying Haines and taking stuff from Macdonald/Minter even the all mugged up lines and such like Flores.. Just all out assault on the oline and seeing if their communication is on point..

Clemson do a bunch of games and stunts so we got less than 2 weeks to figure it out..
 
But what about Heatherman getting pressure with his blitzing…The WF qb was good, but I didn’t see him have many broken plays. He was contained in the pocket. Mensah and Toni will win us the ACC
 
Do you guys remember a situation where a player was this bad, and improved to be a competent player later in the season?

We didn’t rotate much vs wake so how are they gonna get ready
 
I know Seaton was expensive but you can’t tell me he wouldn’t have been worth it with the current state of the OL. I would kill for this starting group:
LT: Seaton
LG: Samson
Center: Rodriguez
RG: McCoy
RT: Cantwell

The mistake we made was not going after Olaus Alinen. He liked Miami out of high school and is balling for Kentucky at guard. Would have been less expensive and solved a lot of problems

That Kentucky OL was great last weekend. I was high on him coming out of high school.

Its unfair to question his toughness and I am not but he just dosn't strike me as a gritty/ tough type. Looked uncomfortable with whatever minor knock he had at the weekend and it severly impacted our/ his play.

We know hes not a runner, and this combination with our OL does concern me.

How about just adding a guard? I don’t know NIL numbers but I gotta imagine an all conference guard is maybe 1/3 of what an all conference tackle makes maybe even less because it’s less flashy

You could have got two for the price of one seaton and been chillin with pancake, all conference guard, Rodriguez, all conference guard, McCoy.

Having two excellent guards could have helped carry Rodriguez

Interesting SJ had some of the same issues at fullback which is completely different. But recognizing who to block is not intuitive to him in the run game.

He could be a beast at DT with his short area quickness. Just tell him get upfield and not think lol
 
I find it interesting why they feel they are better off with these five after Cantwell held down LT in the spring. I’d have Cantwell at RT and move McCoy inside. McCoy isn’t an OT at the next level and is no where as good at OT as Cici was. Take the lumps now so by November/December Cantwell has the experience needed to hold up. I don’t see SJ holding up against the big boy teams.

I trust that they see something and know far more than all of us.

No matter the case, this years OL is the ceiling of the team.
