The web was not around when he was at Miami but the hype was huge. I get the feeling he was a lamb walking into the slaughter house at Miami. Those teams were hard core and I wonder if he thought he was going to roll in as the man and the locker room made him earn it and he tapped out.

I could be waaaaay off base but I always wondered what happened with Fortay.

I was at Miami before his time. But I remember or misremember his dad being a sports dad of the not cool type.

Basically. I remember his recruiting. He was from NJ, OldBridge I think. Did well there got some hype. We offered. He went to IMG and couldn’t hang with that level of comp. He was an int machine then. He cooled off on him and Rutgers “flipped” him. Rest is history.

It was worse than that, really. He wasn’t very good in NJ. Richt got all excited about him in the spring camp circuit whatever that is, then had a brain fart and took a commitment iirc when he camped woth us. Plenty of people on this board watched film and were negative. Took richt a lot longer to see the obvious than most others here. He didn’t need to see IMG to realize the kid wasn’t the goods.

He probably even wondered how all of this happened to him. Not good in Jersey, gets hyped up, ends up at the best high school in the country, verbals to us, and then it all falls apart. Ends up in NJ and probably felt lucky just with that. Should've just finished up there.

I knew he played, and maybe started one or two games, wasn’t aware he aware he started the first half of the season. But either way, he didn’t have a single good game when he was there. He was never really hyped and IMG, as far as I can recall.

When I first heard about him I thought oh, nice specimen. Very soon thereafter I knew he was all hype. Looked good in shorts, made a splash in seven on seven‘s, and that was about it. Never actually produced in games.
