This thread is where I’ll share what I’m hearing from trusted sources around the program. Some updates will be recruiting-related, others may involve the roster, coaching staff, injuries, transfer portal movement, or other developments that haven’t made headlines yet.

As always, recruiting and college basketball new moves fast. Information can change quickly, so every update should be viewed as the latest status of what’s being discussed at that moment.

For the first time ever feels like we’re deeper in the front court than the back court.

How confident are we in these backup guards Bland, Dorn, Berger?

Me personally i’m very confident in all of them, I think Bland and Dorn will kill for Miami. Both of them have played a bunch of college basketball and experience is very worthy to have especially if coming off bench.

Berger, I don’t expect him to play much. The staff doesn’t see it either they brought him in, to fill the John Laboy role just to have someone for a third option.

I mean...maybe...you could get a lot of the other Udeh production, and then let the center get the rebounds.

With the overall frontcourt height, we might also spread those rebounds around. I feel like Udeh was our one reliable guy in that regard last year.

I could give a full breakdown, but my starting 5 would be this

PG: Acaden Lewis ( Villanova transfer, who is a top-25 point guard in the country )
SG: Dante Allen ( Expected to make a huge leap from last season )
SF: Shelton Henderson ( Will be our star player )
PF: Caleb Gaskins ( 5-Star freshman talent and is on NBA lottery draft boards )
C: Somto Cyril ( Georgia transfer, who is one of the best defenders in the whole country )

We will go 11 deep with: Acaden Lewis, Dante Allen, Shelton Henderson, Caleb Gaskins, Somto Cyril, Brent Bland, Nick Dorn, Marcus Allen, DeSean Goode, Egor Ryzhov, and Robert Miller. This is a top 15 caliber roster, a very deep team compared to last year that was only 8.

I believe that in the early part of the season, we may see Robert Miller over Caleb Gaskins. Give him an easier buildup like what Shelton got last year. Plus we face Florida and Alabama early (Miller played in the SEC) and we have a tough tournament in Vegas.

Yes, absolutely. In the first game of the year against Florida, I would play a more physical lineup because Florida's frontcourt will be so tough to stop. Florida is returning players like Alex Condon and Rueben Chinyelu, who is the best defender in College Basketball. I would love to see Robert Miller play way more in that game, since he has so much SEC experience and is used to going up against guys like that. Having him at the 4 and Somto at the 5 would be nasty for teams to play against, so much length down there.

Plus Somto came from Georgia and he played these teams like Miller did. That front court could help us a lot early on.
