Golden players stepping up!
Had he thrown his defensive philosophy in the trash and used Miami talent properly, he'd have done far better. He recruited some fine players, but he couldn't get out of his own way. Don Shula won a lot because he would change his schemes depending on the talent he had. Al Golden LOST a lot because he refused to do so. His own ego cost him, and us, big time. Richt and Diaz are doing what any smart coaches would do. Use the talent you have in a way that maximizes their performance. Do that and more talent wants to come play for you. Why do you think Golden had a hard time getting DTs? Yeah, he got some good ones, but he could have gotten more had he just let them play aggressive.
Bottom line, UM got what they paid for for 15 years. Well, they are now as well. You pony up and pay for a real coaching staff and you get really good results.
