SIAP Roman keeping it real.

Manny isn't getting fired this year. **** he might not get fired if we underperformed next year either. We are stuck with yet another mediocre coach.
His contract expires next year so if he doesn’t get an extension next year, he’s dead man walking.

And what I’ve seen from the recruiting class for 2023, we aren’t in play at this time for many of the top 100. I know it’s early, but only one person I know can clean that up from a recruiting perspective.

Blake and Manny are absolutely attached. Cribby is correct there.

Also, I remember two years ago after Manny's first season. There was one BOT member that was willing to entirely pay off Mario's buyout herself. And willing to go in big time as to his salary.

So I do know that at least one BOT member is willing to front big time cash to get Mario here.
There was talks after year one , eventually they couldn’t justify firing him after one year , then the covid thing happened and he went 8-3. But that conversation at least happened.

Did you actually watch the video? If you did, then you must think Roman is a liar?
Seems like every few years the fire the coach topic comes up and that is the main joy I have with the Canes. Hope is eternal I guess.

Sorry, this was supposed to be it’s on post without an attachment. I will go to the box and feel shame. Two minutes, go free.

Roman is keeping it real because the film doesn’t lie , I’m no expert but I do know a lot more than an average fan about x’s / o’s and that’s why I‘ve had my panties in a bunch. People want to blame this guy , or this group and then defend another guy. Fact is they’ve all been awful , from the staff down. This goes back to last year , it’s just bad.

I posted other day Manny is coaching for his career this year , I‘ve also been talking up a certain coach elsewhere. Roman mentions both.

Manny is in hot water with a some people that you don’t want to be in hot water with at Miami. I’ll repeat what I said other day “ if this goes off the rails they’ll pull the plug during the season“. So when I mention the importance of this game i‘m not over selling it.

What we’ve seen here on his watch is unacceptable , theres no excuse for getting out coached most weeks.
I think this would make a lot of sense based upon Manny looking (physically) like complete 💩 on the sidelines. Manny looked like someone who had a very long night.

Though I hate seeing the Canes lose regardless if I like the HC or not, should I hope for a blowout so Diaz and James get canned???

Like I said other day if you look like a badly coached team most weeks guess what ? At some point that’s what you’re.

Correct. And this is what I said earlier this week in response to the “coaching for his job” stuff. IMO this is far and away the most important game of his career. And it probably would be regardless, because at 1-1 you cannot afford another loss. But I think they way we’ve played the last 4 games, it’s racheted up 10 fold. We got absolutely blistered against UNC, then lose a bowl game, then totally outclassed vs Alabama, then another subpar effort last week. That’s 4 in a row of average or worse (or MUCH worse) performances. A good staff doesn’t let that happen, but even somehow they do, they get their A game out of the kids eventually. IMO this is a must have “A” game for Manny and his staff. If we’d have competed against Bama, beaten App State 38-23….then maybe you can have a slogfest vs Michigan State. But after the last 4 games, it’s time to show you’re a good team. We all think this should be, it’s time to show it.

I’ve never said fire manny, I always try to give three years before I give a opinion. But we aren’t getting better , if anything it’s getting worse. Thats just facts, if you know football it sticks out like a sore thumb. It’s obvious.

I try to be positive but at some point you have to say “is this just what we are and what manny is”? I’m still pulling for the guy , I want him to succeed but this year is it for me. This **** improves or it’s time to kill the experiment.

Yup I remember. It was all around the same time as Highsmith deal almost happening.

If that one BOT member got her way, we woulda had Mario and Highsmith two years ago.

Agreed. I think for sure you have to give someone 3 years as well but this is year 3 and if we have ANOTHER lackluster performance, making it 5 in a row, I think we probably need to start to realize that it’s time to call a spade a spade. And I always err on the side of the coach, winning is **** hard to do at this level. But that’s why I said what I said about how we look. If we look competent most of the time and drop a game or two, I can live with that. Winning is really hard. But looking competent against inferior talent is not. And when you look incompetent week after week after week…..well, it’s time to go kick someone’s ***. If not, you are what you’re showing us you are.

Definitely goes back to late last season and getting exposed and embarrassed by UNC & Manny's old boss. Here's an old fart who fired Manny & his wonky defense just taking him to school. No disgrace getting lit up by Bama and Clemson, the embarrassment of losing to Butch's lowly FIU program and then his old boss are two strikes against Manny. Grabbing control of his defense this season gives him no place to hide. So, the results need to turn quickly and Manny may be doomed if he suffers a third embarrassing strike - either an accumulation of losses or another UNC-like blowout.

Most of us are in "believe it when we see it" mode. It took a crushing win by Clemson to push Golden out midseason. And we've gone cheap on every single hire except Richt, who gave $1M of it back to help get the IPF project going.

If the BoT and a few angels are willing to capitalize this team with a Top 10 staff, they should do it before the wheels fully come off and we lose an entire recruiting season. They should decide on a trigger -- e.g., one more embarrassing loss or three more total losses -- and just pull the trigger the moment that threshold is crossed.

In fact, they should have a untraceable neutral party / expert talking to targeted coaches RIGHT NOW on the down low. The short list of names should be known at this point given it should be someone with demonstrated success as a P5 HC and recruiter of Top 10 talent. Not too many of those names out there.

There's no doubt the team is mediocre putting out a poor quality product. But there are good raw materials there, some of these kids can/could play with the right management. The operation is where the main point of failure is.
