I don’t think they want to be involved in the AD or HC search. Seems they want to help with recruiting more so than anything.
 
It's great that former players want to be involved, but unfortunately most are out of touch and clueless. College football and its infrastructure has changed so much from 20 or 30 years ago. Melvin Bratton would be a 5-star recruit today. Nick Saban, Ohio State, Clemson would be circling his HS in helicopters, coaches kissing his ***, selling the chance to play for national championships and in full, 90,000-plus stadiums. So, would he sign on with Miami?

Then, the notion of Alonzo and Gino overseeing the athletic department. Really? The mad dash to align with a super conference, be it the SEC efforts or another version, has already begun. That calls for an experienced AD, not just a popular Miami player.

Honestly, i love all the family stuff and all that, but we are about the only team where every **** player thinks they need to have their opinion listened to and considered and a committee created. Enough already, just be an ex player and voice your **** on twitter if you want. Half of the ideas/opinions are awful also.

UCF currently has the best W-L record in Florida, of all Florida Division I-A schools.

I hardly think he was saying that UCF IS IS IS the best team in Florida, but is pointing out that UCF has a better W-L record than the Florida Big 3 of UM, UF, and F$U. Yes, literally, HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN?

i worry if we bungle this chance, next conference realignment we will not get a seat at the table
had great hopes when they fired Blake but now we are starting to see this is a clown show
led by ego's in BOT and Hecht
 
Listen, I love the old heads that helped build the program on the field, but no more asking their opinions on executive matters that they have no experience or understanding of. Bratton's whole philosophy is, the position should go to someone who played football at the school. Well...the athletic department isn't just about that. There is baseball and basketball and other sports and fundraising and budgeting. It's an administrative job and can be quite tedious, and the old heads struggle to understand that fully.
 
Ask Bratton if he thought USC made the right moves.

Hired a solid AD from Cincinnati, not someone who wore cleats and walked onto their practice fields. SC tried that a number of times, and it never worked. Garrett was lucky with Pete Carroll, their Plan D choice. The AD then made the biggest splash hire in CFB in forever. When was the last time a winning HC from a Top 8 program left for another Top 8 program?

Joe asked what's the biggest issue in getting the U back. Melvin told a story about buying in the early 80's a Whopper to get 2 tickets and try to flip em and couldn't sell them. Basically keeping SOFL kids home.

Melvin talked about how Baga had 3 starting DB's from SOFL in the NCG.

Culture at the other schools that come to SOFL and cherry pick recruits is not the same as it is at the U.

Plenty of money in MIami - plenty of billionaires in Miami to help.

Suggestions for AD - AC Tellison, Gino, and ZO.

Zo had over 1300 ACT - how the **** did he do that! LOL

Talked about how UCF is the best team in the FL - how does that happen.

The U brand is well known nationally.

Melvin said he has to walk away from the TV during games.

Mentioned Earl LIttle and was disheartened because we're not in the top 3 for JR.

He either misspoke or doesn't know the difference between the two.

Not a bad score, but 1300 does not a genius make. Doesn't make an AD either.

I like that the former players express that they care, but donations speak louder than podcasts.

None of the guys on that panel know how to run an athletic department.
