I grew up in Coral Gables and played pop warner on the West Grove Redskins with Frank Gore and Roscoe Parrish was the option QB. We had another 4 guys that I remember went on to P5 schools

Frank was super chill and a hard worker even at 12 years old

Ketchup and mustard!

When Gore retires we should hire him as running backs coach. He knows more about the position than anyone and could be a boost in evaluating talent.

Why would a verifiable legend who is set for life financially want to deal with all the BS the comes with the recruiting game? Just sayin'.

So annoying that anytime a great Cane retires, people want to pencil him in as a position coach. How many HOFs or perrinel pro bowlers become college position coaches?

Because Gore loves the Canes and Gore loves football. It is not inconceivable that he might LIKE to work with our running backs.

Working with our RBs is one thing. Being a full time RB Coach at a D1 program is another matter entirely. There are HUGE recruiting responsibilities that come with as position like that. It is not a job designed for dudes who want to enjoy a well earned retirement.

Your points are valid, however, everything about Gore seems to point towards him not actually looking at retiring to a recliner in front of the TV set. It would not surprise me if he actually would like something to do with the U. Maybe it's not RB coach....or maybe it is. Frank is NOT afraid of putting in the work. He would work his butt off to improve our running backs IF HE WANTED TO. Now, maybe he doesn't. But is it worth a phone call to reach out to the man and see if he is, at least, interested?

I'm with you on all of that. He's my favorite Cane of all time and the list of people who have conquered as much adversity as he has is a short list indeed. I'm sure he'll be making many appearances at Greentree when his playing days are done, I'm just doubting that he'll want to do it in an official capacity.

He actually really understands the position. I have no idea if he wants to coach but I would gladly give him a shot.

You know how many of our former Cane greats can help the program? By becoming involved at the grass roots, be it Pop Warner, high school, whatever...
Have them become influential with the youngsters and steer the good ones our way to counter the scum bags like Choad Wilson and Uncle Puke.
That is, of course, if they are so inclined to do so because, as noted, they have other options in life.
Otherwise, not really a good idea to have alums on staff, especially if you later have to fire them.

Not many, but Frank is just about unique so it is possible he would. I know money bags control recruiting but the price certainly would go up if Frank was the guy you were trying to beat out for a recruit. He could be the perfect Cane to bring the Cane Thing back and end up the greatest RB coach ever as an extra.
