I'm happy we are getting it done, but it sucks that every construction project UM does is so expensive. For some reference below is what I found via quick google search.

UM $34M for 73k sq ft
FSU spent $15M for a 92k sq ft facility in 2013
UF also spent $15M in 2015 for a 87k sq ft IPF
Georgia spent $30M for a state of the art 109k sq ft IPF in 2017
VT just built an 83k sq ft facility for $21M
USF is building a 160k sq ft football complex plus IPF for $40M

I don't know what those facilities look like. But assuming all are equivalent in terms of quality, the cost of construction is higher in a Tier 1 city like Miami than in any of those other places. Not sure about double, but at least 50%, don't you think? All those workers get paid much more, as do the rest of the suppliers, because they need to get paid more for equivalent quality of life. And the codes must be tougher (and related fees higher) in Miami due to hurricanes and other regulatory and insurance concerns.

It’s definitely not 50%. If anything, it could potentially be cheaper. There’s more competition and more competitive bids. In a less densely populated areas, all the GCs are using the same subs, who many times know they are the only guy in town, and price accordingly.

I’m definitely rooting for them to complete on time but it’s a bit early to be so confident. Most every job finishes the shell on time and with few hiccups, especially a simple structure like this . The problems come with everything after. I still think they will finish on time, it’s a high profile job and I’m sure there are huge liquidated damages in the contract. The GC will do w.e it takes to make it happen. I just want to remind everyone it’s too early to celebrate.

In my experience, it’s bad luck to celebrate and pat yourself on the back when you top off ahead of schedule. Just my superstition I guess.

I don’t think the other IPF’s have an officially sanctioned rendering of the Sistine Chapel on the ceiling on there’s.

Im glad he knows (which alot of guys here dont) that u have to have back to back to back recruiting classes like that to be at bamas level. I been arguing that for years
 
I'm good with Brevin's pass-catching ability... But am always a little worried, when having to depend on Freshmen TE's to block for us in the trenches.

That said, I don't thin Irvin and Polendy isn't going anywhere, esp to fit the bill as Blocking TE's
 
Maybe the difference is hurricane proofing the building.

Good point.
Also, and this may come as a shock to some, but construction costs are going to be higher in Coral Gables/Miami than in the middle of butt fvck nowhere.

Excuse tf out of me for never living in Miami or ever being healthy enough to travel there. At least I am aware that the IPF is mainly to combat lightning and not like some fools on here that think it is for getting out of the heat. I live in Virginia and our most severe lightning is from March through summer so I based my previous post on personal experience. So maybe I’m an idiot. That’s better than being a ****.
