The 2 ******** who voted us 5th are jokers. Sam McKewon said "going into tonight's game (vs ND) he'd take Wisconsin to beat Miami". Apparently he thought the same thing AFTER the game. Wisconsin turned it over 4 times against Iowa, something our D feasts on, & we absolutely destroyed a better rushing team than Wisconsin. But it wasn't enough to change his opinion. Look at the voters who have us
#4 . It's just a baffling when u see how they voted just last week.
These voters had us 4th:
Jon Wilner (San Jose Mercury News): Last week he had it: Bama, Georgia, Notre Dame, Clemson, Oklahoma, TCU, Miami. His
#5 Oklahoma jumped
#4 Clemson for beating
#6 TCU. But his
#7 Miami, didn't jump Clemson for beating his
#3 Notre Dame.
Jonny Miller (WBZ radio, Boston): Last week he had it
#3 Wisconsin,
#4 Clemson,
#5 Miami,
#6 Notre Dame. We're
#4 behind now
#2 Wisconsin &
#3 Clemson.
Kellis Robinett (Wichita Eagle): same story. Last week
#3 Notre Dame,
#4 Clemson,
#5 Miami. Apparently
#5 beating
#3 wasn't good enough for
#5 to jump
#4 .
Lauren Brownlow (WRAL, Durham NC):
#3 Notre Dame,
#4 Clemson,
#5 Oklahoma,
#6 Miami. So.. Then
#6 Miami beats her
#3 ND, but doesn't jump Oklahoma or Clemson?
Ross Dellenger (The Advocate, Baton Rouge): had us
#9 & ND
#5 last week. The only winning team we jumped this week was Wisconsin.
Soren Petro (sports radio Leawood Kansas): same tired story. His
#7 Miami destroys
#5 Notre Dame, but the only team we jump is
#6 Wisconsin
Tom Murphy (Arkansas democrat, Little Rock Arkansas): This is one of the worst.
#7 Miami beats
#6 Notre Dame &
#5 Oklahoma beats
#8 TCU. Neither top 10 win was enough to jump Wisconsin. He has both Miami
#4 &
#5 Oklahoma behind
#3 Wisconsin.
I know the narrative. Win & we're in. And I'm not even ****ed. What's so important about the opinions of 9 random AP voters? The committe members get their rankings from somewhere. How else could they have determined that UCF is
#18 ? Because they beat
#2 2 Memphis? Did the AP voters in California or Nebraska Wyoming for example actually watch that game? Nothing against her, but I always found it hard to believe that Condoleezza Rice knew enough about college football, to rely solely on her football knowledge or the eye test. And it wasn't just her. Lt. Gen. Michael Gould, was serving his country & had "been away from the game since the 1970s". How did he determine who had better wins? Probably by using the AP or coaches poll. Or how about Steve Wieberg, the former USA today sports reporter? Does anyone really believe he ignores the AP poll when coming up with rankings? He spent 30 years around those voters. He IS their vote.
So my point is, I'm starting to think AP voters should have to explain their reasoning for their top 10 or top 5. No more "I let an assitant fill it out".
