Our identity first 8 games was run run run. Now it's gimmick plays?
I was waiting for this comment.

When Jeff Brohm breaks out a three quarterback formation and runs a double pass with end around action, he’s a brilliant schemer and we wish our offense could get creative. When we use a receiver, who won a state title playing quarterback on some trick plays, it’s just a gimmick.

Our offense has struggled with predictability all year. Teams literally knew what was coming when we broke the huddle. If double passes and flea flickers get us almost 600 yards of offense, then by all means, keeping running “gimmick” plays.

you guys think that Mario looks at a 4 interception game loss and he blames the OC...

which means you're retarded...
Who does he blame when the offensive line commits their fifth pre snap penalty of the game?

@DTP i hereby crown thee ... idk if he's the oc of the future, but it's obvious he's trying to loosen things up, but others see it as "high school plays" ... cmon now ... shannon had it working, that being said, the bigger move was pringle

we finally got some imagination ... we have to play like that every week ... we have to stay in our bag and keep teams on their toes ... also credit to whoever said pringle is starting ... i was a supporter of him getting more touches, they said **** it, he starting, suddenly our running game has life again ... on a different note, wish schott was healthy, cuz man
Glad that he could find the missing pages to our playbook finally

I'll be the negative one....I like diversified looks instead of running right up the middle. But we don't have an offensive identity and the play calling was like a 16 year old playing Madden. Didn't seem like we were setting up plays, attacking mismatches....we were all over the board. Really good runs on the edge, then run a reverse flea flicker? How about play action?

Honestly I would want to know where this has been when our offense became stagnant.

You kind of have to be fair to the other backs. Pringle just gets the opportunity to take advantage of this play calling.

Great game yesterday. Loved the crowd. Such a good fun time. Wish we could have one more home game.
Haven't seen the wave done at a game in years and we had that sht rocking. LOL
I sit in the endzone and 2 sections over the students have been awesome taking up an entire section cheering. It's been fun.

It's amazing how different the run game looks when you have a RB that has good vision and looks to press the edge. Dawson has been calling the same stuff all year, the major changes to the run game of late is Pringle and some well designed gadget plays, plays that give the defense something else to think about.

Pringle has shown that this run game can work, if you are looking to break big plays, instead of pounding teams into submission. Fletch is a pounder, Marty is a pounder, Lyle just doesn't seem to have the vision right now. Pringle is a pure runner.
We were actually spreading the defense out on Saturday via formation instead of every single player on offense 7 yards from the center. Pringle had a ton of room and really nice holes. He's also making the right reads and using his acceleration and speed. Way different look.

I’m not a Dawson lover or hater. Not placing blame on him or Beck or Mario. But just wanted to point out that we haven’t broken 30 against any team with a pulse, except G5 USF.

This years offense is a different version of TVD’s half year starting after he took over bc of injury. Guy lights it up and then when he starts sucking the next year you realize he was only good bc he played 6 defenses that were all bottom tier or were missing half their starters (NCST).
He was good because a guy named Lashlee was coaching offense.

He’s the only OC over the last 20 years to be playing with the kind of personnel budget that he has.
This site loves mentioning the number one ranked offense last year, when Cam Ward didn’t play the second half of the pop tart bowl Rigamortus started setting into the offense.

Dawson is the ultimate one trick pony - play calling and has yet to develop a HS quarterback due to his own **** poor evaluations

I wasn’t sold on his brand of air raid especially with Mario as HC. Last year bought him some fans but I think 2023 and 2025 are what his style is. Air raid schemes are most successful when they use space and pace along with the play calling. We do neither. His power running game is fine but we jumble everything up and slow everything down which diminishes its effectiveness IMO. Also our insistence of putting 1-2 TE out there, who aren’t a receiving threat, hurts our pass attack even more. Last year Arroyo was a 4th WR out there. The two guys this year aren’t even close to his skill set yet we line Bauman up in the slot consistently. How much of this is Mario’s influence is anyone’s guess. Considering we’ve had Gattis and now Dawson I’d say we won’t see a true spread or air raid system with Mario as HC.

NC State as literally given up 400+ yards on their last 4 games and 500+ in their last 3 (going off memory so might need to be fact checked)

Should a top 15 team need to run constant trick plays against a pathetic defense like that? Or should a top 15 team just be able to line up and go?

My point is we can be unpredictable without running all the gimmicks

if you referring to lyle ... he's had MORE than enough opportunities ... it's just been a bad year
I agree, but its kind of a messed uo situation when youre forced to run the plays that were being called prior to the last couple of weeks

So are you suggesting that the offense just run basic vanilla stuff over and over again? Or plays that actually work? Because SMU is a terrible defensive team and just lining up and running at them didn’t really do the job.

Whether it’s Beck, the receivers, the line or the running backs, for whatever reason just lining up and trying to beat teams heads up isn’t working for us. Most of the fan base is very frustrated that they kept trying to win that way with little success. If motion and trick plays get us to score and move the ball consistently, then do what works.
