Should've never made himself DC...

In many ways the last two Miami HCs were undone by the same pride on their scheme/staff Richt and MD, Richt had the decency to bow out

Not sure why Manny did it, was it ego? Regardless, dumb move that will cost him his job. A lot of moves he made were good but too delayed to save him. I hate the idea of breaking in another coach. Also with so many programs changing coaches can we get exactly what is needed. Also with the AD gone do we wait for anther AD before hiring a coach or let the board appoint someone to guide a search committee? I wonder if someone like JJ would head up a search? Without an AD who could be best to head up a committee? It is going to get interesting but also could make recruiting difficult. I think Manny is done so why wait, strike while the pickings are hot. The longer we delay could be devastating as far as the coach talent pool. I have a feeling that Manny still loves the U and will cooperate in transition. He really tried his best but that wasn't good enough, sad!
Doesn’t matter. If he’d hired a DC he would have picked somebody to run the same scheme and we’d be right here. As for the “pickings” it doesn’t matter when we do this. There are about the same number of high profile jobs open every year, and we’ll never be the best job.

What is weird is based on 4th quarters we could easily be 8-2 or 1-9 and most were within a field goal. I'd think any coach that wants a team with talent would love to be in Miami. To bad we weren't playing hand grenades!
Since the CC game:

3-3, 200 PF, 200 PA, average margin 2.7

Look it was never going to work for manny.

He’s just not cut out for this level.

Maybe he could be good at the D3 level.

He was supposed to fix the “culture” and he has installed his culture.

But what culture is that exactly?

A lax country club culture

An undisciplined culture.

A culture based on flash more than substance

Just take Saturdays 4th quarter antics.

You have the ball on the 5.

It’s 4th and 2. You’re Down 6.

Your been down at much at 17.

You have a freshman kicker…

On the road in a rivalry game.

You allow and most likely encourage your players to go to the logo and start some foolish stuff at midfield.

Imagine if Florida State was a better coached team who didn’t come out there.

You could have gotten a 15 yard penality.

One of your best players could have ejected.

You wasted time that could have been spent coaching or allowing the players to get “lock in” for that crucial frame.

But no you want to risk it all in some fake showing of “swag”.

Real swag would be finishing that game like the you are better team And winning 35-20.

So with that being said. As I mentioned above. He’s need to be in a place where kids aren’t as serious about the game and where the athletes aren’t good enough to take advantage of his undisciplined style of defense he loves.

Was this written as a poem?

Manny definitely made his own bed. 100%. Maybe one day he will evolve into a good HC. I’m glad we won’t wait it out for it to click for him here. A couple good years under Saban would do wonders for him.

Nah the let the SEC and elites come in their backyard take who they want with no fight. That's what did all those guys in and if it continues the next guy. That's the thing all those coaches have in common....they didn't land the cream of the crop especially in sfla

The emergence of TVDinner and some of the young guns definitely helped boost the appeal of the Miami job

Digging out of the whole Manny and BJ have left us in

Knowing our program they didn’t want to give him money!!! Get me a ad with some balls to get whatever it takes to win!! Remember what Jimmy’s ad got him…academic advisors which was a game changer in college athletics back then we need an ad that’s getting us stuff that changes the game back in our favor jit one who can’t get us money to compete when football is the golden goose!!

It’s all moot now but I personally believe he was going to hire a new DC after this season regardless. Everything surrounding the defensive staff overhaul last offseason screamed “cheap *** Miami athletic department”. They somehow got rid of their cornerbacks coach, safety coach, and defensive coordinator without having to pay a cent in buy out dollars. Then they cut even more coupons by having Manny be his own defensive coordinator. If he would have volunteered to be his own offensive coordinator too, they would have probably gone with it. Whatever saves them the most money

No, we grab defeat from the jaws of victory when he left from Temple.

This guy cannot RECRUIT. He cannot identify talent. He hadn't been anywhere long enough in reality. He got canned year 3 at Texas. Short stints at Mississippi twice and Louisiana. He actually inherited a decent roster on defense and eventually drove it into the ground.

A competent OC easily figures him out and his tendency. No doubt on 4th and 14 he gave FSU the exact look they were expected. Had we loaded the box they would have called time out and changed the play.

The guy sucks. Mack Brown who is senile even figured it out.

Bingo. Manny had his greasy little hands all over the defense and was never going to hire anybody who would challenge him.

THIS ^^^

Manny wanted a puppet so he could control the strings.

When Blake failed, his only move was to handle it himself. Even bringing in Bob Shop—have someone to help with the weekly planning and then play the, "I'll take it from here" card. No different than a personal assistant doing grunt work for the boss.

If Manny wasn't an egomaniac who actually wanted to succeed—he'd have grabbed a Jim Leavitt-type; a veteran with previous head coaching experience, who was a hard *** and could've really handled that side of the ball and turned 'em into junkyard dogs.

Instead, he chose CONTROL over this and now he's paying a price.

At the same time, he should have known himself better. He's been around long enough to see what was required of being a head coach at a major program, and realize that he lacked many of the things needed to succeed. He should have declined and learned how to be a HC at a lesser school, like Temple.
