Not sure why Manny did it, was it ego? Regardless, dumb move that will cost him his job. A lot of moves he made were good but too delayed to save him. I hate the idea of breaking in another coach. Also with so many programs changing coaches can we get exactly what is needed. Also with the AD gone do we wait for anther AD before hiring a coach or let the board appoint someone to guide a search committee? I wonder if someone like JJ would head up a search? Without an AD who could be best to head up a committee? It is going to get interesting but also could make recruiting difficult. I think Manny is done so why wait, strike while the pickings are hot. The longer we delay could be devastating as far as the coach talent pool. I have a feeling that Manny still loves the U and will cooperate in transition. He really tried his best but that wasn't good enough, sad!

It was a good move if you are a Canes fan. I said it was win win when it happened. If he succeeds as DC, great, he looks like a genius. If he fails as DC, he has no one to scapegoat. I was glad he made the decision.

Probably the truest comment ever typed on CanesInsight.com

I think he tried an wasn’t able to land who he wanted. Some say it was Kevin Steel. When he didn’t land him time was running out and he just said Fck it.

IMO, Manny was trying to do Blake a solid by keeping him on until he got a new job at LSU. He should have let Blake go right after the UNC debacle last year. It would have allowed him 2 weeks before the bowl game to line up a new DC or immediately after the bowl game.

Not Manny, he waits till Blake is hired by LSU at the end of January. Who are you going to get then with 2 or 3 weeks till spring practice starts?

Kind of like thinking his D could stop FSU from the 6 inch line. Dude couldn't stop them on 4th and 14, and he thinks he can stop them 4 times from there? What a damned prideful fool.
All while chewing the clock and all our timeouts. Infamous sequence of plays that might haunt him forever.

What is weird is based on 4th quarters we could easily be 8-2 or 1-9 and most were within a field goal. I'd think any coach that wants a team with talent would love to be in Miami. To bad we weren't playing hand grenades!

Is it too late to hand Manny one?
