Should we move James Williams to LB?

Not a good example because he was used all over the field. In his combine interview they asked what position he wants to be labeled as and he said football player. James shouldn’t be limited to one position

when he was being recruited, wasn't he set on being a S and not a LB
 
Nah. He is a safety. He will play there until he gets passed up. Then he will hit the portal and be someone elses 5* that never panned out. He is not physical enough to play LB. I don't know if he is physical enough to play safety at this level. Time will tell. It sounds great to say that we have a 6'5 230lb safety on our D. However if the guy can't tackle it really doesn't mean anything.

Saw LCE mention Gil.

Get that man on the field a lot more. He has a nose for the ball and as I've said for a long time, I expect him to have a long NFL career. Get that man some work unlike the last staff.

He’s all of the above...

You move him around the field depending on the play & the coverage we’re in; you can drop him back in coverage or Blitz the pocket, you can line him up in multiple spots & use him in different sub-packages to utilize his skill set best.

Against Running QB’s, he could very easily be used a Spy to keep the QB from breaking too many long runs from contain, on Passing plays in Nickel packages he can line up at Strong Safety to cover the Seams to make sure opposing TE’s don’t get free rein against Cover 3 & 4 shells & against Running plays, drop him down in the Box at Sam Backer & let him pursue all cut back lanes to keep us from getting gashed into the 2nd level if the 4-man front doesn’t get to the RB first.

You can also have him covering the Flats & short routes over the middle.

Point is, when you have James Williams, Gilbert Frierson, Al Blades Jr & Keontra Smith those are multipurpose Defenders that you can mix up the Defensive looks with & move around the Chess Board.

Would love to see us find more ways to get Kam Kinchens, James Williams and Avantae Williams on the field at the same time

Yes let’s move him to linebacker permanently, whatever the fūck that means, and then he can have 15-20% of his snaps as a linebacker, the rest as a DB. I don’t even know what you’re saying anymore.

I think Tae and Kinchens are better than him right now. Also, if anyone thinks that we will not bring in absolute studs at safety that will push for immediate playing time then you are sadly mistaken. In this day and age, if a 5* gets pushed to the bench because he is not good enough then they put their names in the portal. It sucks but it is what it is. Hopefully I am dead wrong. Hopefully Williams will live up to the hype and be an all time great here.
