Should we give Camden Price a shot?

I just don't understand why our ST line is so incapable of blocking. Yes, Baxa is inconsistent. But what IS consistent is that our entire line gets pushed back or sometimes even just falls apart almost every single kick, making every kick an adventure for the kicker. Same happened last year when Feagles was punting too. Even watching some FCS team vs. a top 10 FBS team, you don't see the defense push the line around and get near the kicker as often as even bad teams do to us.

In the UNC game we had an extra point blocked (with the defense flying through the line and our middle blocker falling backwards) and a short field goal partially deflected (kick was a bit low, but our line also immediately got shoved back a couple yards at the snap). It's a consistent problem and no kicker will ever feel confident when they expect the line to fall apart on every kick.

Alan Iverson said, practice your talking practice. Does Baxa have a different practice holder?

lol Classic Quote but its different in live action.... They looked scared. Baxa and the place holder! Something is seriously wrong with their psyche . NEEDS TO BE FIXED. ASAP

I'm going to put this here....

Agreed, I couldn't believe when they showed him on the sidelines like he was a spectator. It's also on the coaches, tell him to get his leg warmed up or something to get him in the groove, it would have been good from sixty had it been straight, it's mental. The block was a disgusting effort by our 350 lineman getting run over. Pathetic.
Blocking was bad but he also has a very low kick and it actually grazed a guys helmet. I dont think he should be the kicker moving forward imo lacks the clutch and his kicks are naturally easier to block with his low angle

TBH... I really don't feel its Baxa fault. I reviewed film 2x and the place holder hands is not accurate when place holding the football. Plus his spin and timing on the ball when receiving it is a little off. Check the game again to see what i'm talking about? If you can see what I see fellas. This needs to be fixed and its mind blogging how no one on the staff can critique it or see it. Place holder looks nervous! - No wonder we hear so much of BAXA knockin down these 50 yrd fg's in practice but cannot make a 25 yarder in live action.

Laces out?

They're probably scared because for the past 3 years or so, the line that blocks for the kickers and punters has allowed rushers through consistently.

Agreed the kick was a bit low, but our blocking line was also immediately pushed back towards the kicker, making the kick more difficult. Not to say Baxa doesn't have issues with consistency, but that is compounded by the kicker knowing that every single kick is under threat of being blocked due to the poor line play.

I doubt this guy would be any better. If he didn’t beat him out earlier he won’t now.

Also these special teams guys are weird man. They get in their head and then they’re done for. Happened with Feagles. Also do we have a new holder this year?

We absolutely need to find another kicker. Baxa can handle kickoffs but we need a guy who can consistently hit the chip shots.

Must get a solid kicker in the 2020 class. Non-negotiable.

Where's the accountability? Yes, he should be working with the 1s immediately. The Price is right. C'mon down!

we shouldn't be kicking fgs that we going take from our QB I trust him he's a leader that whole team feed off cause they know they can win that's the difference in this year's team when put JW at QB that was a team choice even in losing we different the spirit these next two games seem small but big in confidence to come so close to finally doing it TNM 10-2 ACC CHAMPIONSHIP

I don’t buy this at all. All he can do is his job. If he is getting kicks blocked that would’ve otherwise been fine that’s one thing, but he’s missing balls and getting balls blocked that are his fault. It’s a confidence problem compounded with not having a coach.

Nobody blames a pitcher when his defense makes 4 errors. This is the same scenario. Of course there will be side effects of bad blocking but it’s 99% his fault

Yes, it's a confidence problem. Kickers in general are head cases. Like I said, he's an inconsistent kicker to begin with. But knowing that every single play there is a very, very high probability that your line is going to break down and allow the rush in at you, certainly doesn't help with confidence.

The balls getting blocked were not his fault. The xtra point was 100% on Donaldson. The second the ball was snapped, Donaldson was bent backwards and down on a knee as the defender shoved right by him to block it. On the partially-deflected 25 yard field goal, yes, it was a bit low, and that's on Baxa, but if the line didn't get blown backwards 2-3 yards immediately it would have likely not gotten deflected and would have been good.

Which goes back to my point in that it’s mostly his fault. A kick inside of 30 yards should never be blocked unless someone is right on top of the kicker. If he hit it well it would’ve been fine. Everything he kicks takes way too long to get up. That’s on him

Everybody knows "laces out!" from Ace Ventura!
:)
We all laugh about that joke, but it's pretty important. You aren't going to see any pros kicking (unless the snap is bad) with the laces in. That being said, Baxa also looks like a deer in the headlights and part of being a kicker is not letting the moment get to you. If he isn't getting the job done, which he isn't, we should be looking for alternatives. ****, I'd end practice with 10 minutes of live rush you miss this kick everyone runs gassers pressure to either weed him out or toughen him up.

Golfers get the yips. More than one Major League 2nd baseman has become unable to make that short throw to first. The mind can get you.

Yes, but we have a way of ruining kickers. This has been an ongoing problem. The rush gets to our kickers on a regular basis far more than it does for any team I've ever watched.

You know this based on what?

based on our special teams

wtf you think these guys have done nothing but study field goal kickers and punters their entire lives or something? At what point does the special teams have to be so flabbergastingly bad that you sit there and say, "man maybe these guys don't know nothing bout kicking or special teams.." ??

Lmao exactly. Not to mention Patke had zero experience as a real coach before he got here let alone running a special teams unit. But we’re just idiot fans who don’t know anything who just wanna complain, right?
