Should Manny hire a CVO?

UM needs vision. The “Chief of Staff” model and title is antiquated. We need visionaries who will disrupt the system by leveraging existing technologies to create new synergies for a more sustainable future. I’m in favor of hiring a CVO.
That's exactly what I'm thinking. We can't continue with the status quo and think we are going to the top. We need to harness UM's unique attributes and drive the program past all others with forward thinking.

Should he have a degree in Opthamology? As I am old, this is one of the dritzy titles created by MBAs when the realized the simple attentiion on immediate returns led to situations when a venture was wiped out by a foreseeable Tsunami. Remember when your Dad taught you to drive? He said, don't focus on the hood ornament, look down the rode for smoother ride.

I have found that in most aspects of life, leaders would have better vision if their heads weren't so firmly up their butts.

We don’t need a “CVO” to tell us we need a full fledged social media marketing department. We are behind the likes of Pitt and GT in that category right now. We are stuck on a chick who makes “sick edits” while they are already using their new departments to ramp up marketing for the NIL legislation, and virtual city/campus tours, since kids can’t get on campus.

Here's the vision... Simple as that.

LOL... this thread is a bad game of buzzword bingo.

Good job copying and pasting.

Helpful hint: if you ever take over a division, and are looking to maximize return on investment, start with getting rid of the people who constantly rely on business word-salad jargon to justify their existence, rather than actual results.

@We'retheBoss nailed the type in his post above:

I think it's mission critical that we build consensus in order to shift paradigms and have a growth mindset. Something needs to be done to move the needle, let's maybe maybe circle back in a couple of days.

What about a Chief Influence Officer?

Yes that did nail it. You can tell the people that have attended a lot of business meetings. I used to laugh when I was forced to listen to the bullshlt.

I have been fortunate to be able to hire both externally and internally, and with every round, you always get a handful of the slicksters that are adept at dealing jargon, but not too adept getting results. There’s almost an inverse correlation, the greater and more circular the jargon, the greater the likelihood there are no concrete or measurable results.
