Should Harley get a look at the starting slot WR next season

Yes. It's not his fault the coaches weren't using him correctly. Why he was repeatedly being asked to run fade routes and catch back shoulder 50/50 balls is ludicrous.

I found a few times this year the play call was good, but the personnel was wrong.

Richt putting in his cheetah packing in the red zone against Gtech (twice) was easily the worst personnel decision he’s made at the U. That included calling a fade to Harley.

The greatest part of this debate is that so many of these WR combinations sound great! WR's switch out a lot so we will have 5-6 in the rotation. Should be able to mix and match a lot depending upon game situations.

I see Harley more as an outside guy with his speed. He's quick but doesn't necessarily move like a slot.

Pope, on the other hand, could easily win the job as an EE. Jeff Thomas also has the ability to play there.

Thomas is better outside. The staff already said this during the season. Pope is so smooth he can play anywhere.

Pope has a lot of Stacy Coley in his game...and Coley's money position was in the slot

Wait until you see a Qb acutally throw a catchable ball to him on those same looks.

Don’t be silly. You don’t throw fades to guys his size.

They did that last year with Berrios... dude is a slot WR and they had him on the outside running streaks and fades/jump balls in the end zone ... smh

Plays the slot this year and kllls it .. duh

I think Harley is a poor man's Desean Jackson ... I say keep him outside and open up the route-tree... our scheme had 3 routes in it...lol.We need to utilize each guys talents better.

Harley got dinged up and could not get it right after that . I think he comes back a different player next year. The competition will only help

Pope has wiggle, he can play the slot no problem

I like DJ in the slot and let the Pope kid see if he can beat him out. Harley should stay outside and play the Randle Hill role. Deep routes with occasional square outs.

I think Pope can play slot or outside, Harley will definitely play next year, dude needs to put on some muscle, he was 165 soaked and wet with bricks in his pockets. In a perfect world he'd redshirt and pack on some weight and strength.

My .02 cents. Though it is important where they are positioned, it's more important how you use them, ie, no fade routes to a 5'7" Harley. With that said and I've said it often, excluding new OC, we need a more diverse offense that will benefit these kids skills and speed:

1. More pass routes, combinations and formations

2. Faster pace and play calling, substitutions

3. Motions/shifts

4. Take advantage of the middle of the field and seams

5. Limit "power" plays until we get powerful move guys off the ball OLinemen.

If Pope is as good as advertised then it might be Richards, Pope, with Thomas in the slot.

Is Richards going to be ready for Spring or Fall camp? While I'm on the subject, what was the extent of his injury and the prognosis? Was it a torn ACL? I don't remember hearing about it.

Lateral meniscus (cartilage). He’s probably already running on it but no need to push/risk w his other nicks.
