Should be a Fun Thread for the Blue Chip Ratio Civil War Argument

I made this argument last week about our guys. I think it’s pretty simple really and the OP is spot on about our talent.

I get that we are at 55% blue chip ratio, but MOST those so called “blue chip” guys are swings and misses. The 2019 class is non existent and the 2019 class is made up of mostly straight garbage players. We have been landing 4 and 5 star guys, but only the ones no one else(the SEC) wants. The last 4 years of recruiting have been absolutely horrible.

Kids going to schools like Bama, Clemson, OSU etc are making business decisions. They get to those schools with the mindset of working hard and being the best at they position. When they get there there is already a winning culture established there. They just fall in line with the leaders of the team. Kids choosing UM for last 20 years been choosing for the past culture. To say hey I wear so and so number. To say yea folks saying I’m the next so and so. The culture that exist now and years prior is just trying to be the coolest and flashiest. Dwell in the glitz and glamor of the city of Miami and live in the past of what former players did.

I believe that how you get a Jacory Brooks at Bama doing good things but we get a Romello Brinson same high school different college that can’t even see the field. You get a Dallas Turner terrorizing qbs but we can’t get one upperclassmen end outside of a transfer get to the qb. The list goes on and on
Man that’s a great point. I think that it’s so spot on. Athletes need physical traits, but great athletes need both the physical and mental traits…we’ve been whiffing on them big time

I think this shows a few things:

1. We have a roster that should make us at least competitive with anyone in America and we should dominate the coastal annually.

2. Coaching is terrible.

3. Player development is terrible. Most of the best players we have are the lowest rated in their position room

4. Most of those guys were sought after by other big time programs. But I suspect some were bargain bin adds that make the coach look better because of their stars

5. Thad Franklin is soft. He is big but he runs soft. Rooster is soft. Don Cheney and Parish are the only backs we have that aren't soft.

6. The O line is soft. Here is where we need the most transfers. Since every coach has struggled with them, including multiple Oline coaches that went to Bama to get a ring, it must be the culture. A culture that is so ingrained player to player that transfers are the only option to uproot it.

7. Coaching is terrible. The players are here. Every coach we have had since Coker comes in saying there's enough to win. Then they lose. Then they talk about nothing being here and how it takes time to rebuild. Then they recruit WELL. Then they get fired because they suck as a coach. Repeat.

Didn't Urban go undefeated his first year at OSU when he was coaching a bunch of players that lost to Jacory Harris and Al Golden? Saban had his kids a breath away from beating Florida in year 2 with a bunch of players that were perennial losers that we wouldn't have bothered to recruit.

Those first year Duke coaches shouldn't have shown mercy and should have put up 50 on us. In future years we'll put 50 on them and not bat an eye .

I've been on the "it is bad coaching" since Coker took over. While I don't think we have the talent to compete against the best of the best yet, I refuse to believe we don't have enough to NOT be a doormat in the coastal. Everything is a mess. S&C to me has been a concern since Moffitt left.

When was he active in the portal day 1? That was our 1st complaint on him. Lol. And I can unequivocally tell u he did not think that. He actually said when he looked over this roster, it was 2-3 yrs away from being championship caliber. He also said he was trying to evaluate everything b4 making necessary changes. He continually said we have a long ways to go & kept hinting at steps forward were made & step backs were taken, as well.
Just bcuz you try to get players from the portal, doesn't mean you'll get them, hence misses. This was one of

Championship caliber and beating MTSU and Duke are NOT equal. We didn't ask this man to win the national championship. We just asked him to take, one of CFB's hottest teams' by the end season, with a Heisman hopeful QB, to 8-4.

Was that really too much to ask?

If you've played NCAA Football the video game...you'll know what I'm talking about...we get a lot of 4* players that when scouted get the broken red heart that aren't really getting a lot of recruiting points allocated to them by other schools. yafeelme?

Hold on…I know the coaching is **** poor. There’s no debate there, and they deserve the brunt of the blame. but you’re telling me this roster, what we saw against Duke, what we saw last year, or even the year prior…making the same mistakes they’ve been making for three seasons…struggling against every ACC team, no matter the win or loss, it was always eventful in the wrong way…isn’t bad?

Woof. I mean 70% of those players I listed, I don’t think they start at a lot of schools we try to compare ourselves to. Some aren’t in the two deep.
We have a better team than MTSU and Duke!

We’re also missing a rash of players on that OL. Week 1’s OL is not remotely the same as Week’s 8 OL.

Dennis & Sagapolu never saw real PT at UO. Dennis ranking dropped via the TP. Mario didn’t bring them w/ him; in fact Mario specifically said he wasn’t going to recruit any UO players to show respect to his former employer. Both players chose to come to Miami, but neither were penciled in as starters. They were supposed to be nothing more than depth guys.
Saying he wasn't recruiting any UO players was coach talk. Like Saban saying he was staying in Miami.

Exactly. And around here's the arguments have almost exclusively been players v coaRches. It's both.
It would be the players if we were talking about beating OSU, Bama, UGA, etc.... We are talking about the weak *** ACC Coastal!

I used to think the same;

I think, honestly, what has transpired is the hand me down of poor coaching & leadership. That, in turn, led to the young men who have come to follow suit.

I mean, let’s go back in a Time Machine:

2004 & 2005 Recruiting Classes:

Looked great on paper, being the #3 & #9 ranked classes, respectively. Some real headliners in that class; they did absolutely chit here, including helping Coker get fired

When there’s no leadership at the top, the leaders (the upper class men) take that queue. What we’ve witnessed is this carousel of **** poor coaches, looked upon to change what their predecessor did b4 them. Imo, this season was going to be a wash, although I felt we would & should be able to win at least 8 this yr, I knew the mentality of this roster was a mess.

However, next yr, there r no excuses or reasoning.
There aren't any excuses this year lol!
