Should be a Fun Thread for the Blue Chip Ratio Civil War Argument

Year 8 if we’re being fair
In all seriousness mario will be given 7 to 8 years. Going to be a long time.

If he doesn't adapt he will go down as the most hated coach in Miami history because of all the money invested and hype surrounding him.

My brother from another;

So let me see if I understand ur post clearly:

4 yrs of ineptitude & bad recruiting; 4 yrs of mediocrity was supposed to change in months?

I think Mario’s biggest flaw this off season was giving these lil ninjas a chance. He should’ve been aggressive af in the portal, so in that case, I do agree w/ u. Unfortunately, by the time he got a sense of the roster, trying to poach from The Portal became went from shopping at Bloomingdale’s to shopping at the Slauson Swap Meet.
Mario was active in the portal from day 1. I'd be willing to bet you anything that he thought we would have a good season.

I know you and LCE are being facetious, but look what Tennessee is doing year 2. I remember CIS not long ago, "well at least we're ahead of Tennessee. "
I’m in the middle on all of this. I’m blaming coaches and players and believe this will be fixed over time. That said i won’t bite my tongue if I see god awful coaching and I do. As I’ve been saying this early in the season “ this is bad on both sides“.

All the OP is proving with this post is that no amount of talent can overcome **** poor coaching and lack of development by the staff. This isn't the Bear Bryant era where you stack multiple high ranked players and i-formation/hb dive the opposing team to death. Coaching. Matters. Expecting even the most talented high rated 5* recruits to rise above ****** schemes and bad coaching/inadequate development is asine. You think C.J. Stroud would be the same C.J Stroud if he went to Iowa and played in Kirk Ferentz's boring ***, outdated offense instead of Ohio State? Coming out of high school Trevor Lawrence was the most NFL ready recruit since probably Peyton Manning. As talented as he was you think he has the same trajectory if he goes to a dumpster fire program instead of Clemson where he received top notch coaching/qb development and playing in an offense that doesn't maximize his talent and skill? Not every blue chip player will become an all American, multiple award finalist/winner, and sure fire 1st round pick, and there will be busts, but the fact that Miami has had MULTIPLE blue chip recruits come here and very few have gone on to become great speaks more to the program and its short falls than the players themselves. Stop with the disingenuous posts.

When was he active in the portal day 1? That was our 1st complaint on him. Lol. And I can unequivocally tell u he did not think that. He actually said when he looked over this roster, it was 2-3 yrs away from being championship caliber. He also said he was trying to evaluate everything b4 making necessary changes. He continually said we have a long ways to go & kept hinting at steps forward were made & step backs were taken, as well.

16 turnovers and 46 penalties season to date…that’s coaching…easy to blame players here as we all see the poor performances.

In my view, the coaches have failed the players thus far. And calling players out publicly is weak. Cristobal and Gattis should be ashamed of themselves. Coach them up. Play others. Adjust your scheme.

Bottomline, the team is bad but not bad enough to have lost at home to MTSU and Duke. And fortunate to have won on the road at VT.

I kind of agree. I feel Mario’s intent on toughening up this team fell on deaf ears. I think he thought with good intention he could accomplish this and at the same time give those chances to those who won’t work hard. and Yes it takes time to get to truly know your roster. Not using the portal more was a mistake he is now finding out. Great point. This bunch for who ever or what ever has quit on Mario. They miss the disco dancing camera mugging and the jewelry.

Exactly. And around here's the arguments have almost exclusively been players v coaRches. It's both.

Hard to hit the portal hard tbh when you took a while to hire a staff

So, the Coaches can’t be held accountable until year 5 or 6?
Nah that’s not really what I’m saying. I’m just highlighting that this isn’t some magical takeover of an elite roster.

This roster isn’t good. But you know what? With the transfer portal, teams can look drastically different the following year. You know what else can drastically change a team? An elite OC hire.

Do both of those while continuing to identify and bring along the right high school prospects, and we’ve got a shot. But that’s a lot of ifs, and it’s yet to be seen if Mario can accomplish this….

And no, 5-6 years won’t cut it. Personally the off-season is massive: need a new OC above all. Someone like you’ve been Alluding to for years. I’d kill for someone like Golesh.

Need to hit the portal ridiculously hard.

It should. I don’t see it hitting the needs at the skill though

I swear, The Hurricanes remind me of my Bears. A lot of holes to plug (pause), but ? marks on hitting some important positions via FA or draft (WR, TE)
