I think this was the worst game of the season by Miami. This or UVA. The fumbles, the failure to gain short yardage, some drops.

But a win is a win. They will need to play better against Florida State. Hopefully Florida State has a tough game tonight.

The craziest thing is when Thad was in there he did exactly what we needed. In his one carry you can clearly see that boy does not fall backwards. He got three yards out of nothing like we would need on all those short yardage sitatuations. Man I’m tired of moping but this team has given PTSD worse than two wars. Was hoping after the first mishap that we'd do the same thing they did on short yardage; ie throw to their RB swinging wide out of the back field. but noooooo .... up the middle for another stop.

I love Rooster but towards the end of the game. Thad should have been getting carries. GT was gassed and subbing in Thad should have killed them. Thad would get 1 yard falling forward.

#55 Donaldson was walked back in the last 2 attempts, #53 Clark can't move anybody either. We can criticize Lashlee for calling any runs in short yardage, but those are players related failures not Xs and Os.

A team needs to be able to pick up short yards on the ground at least the majority of the time

It’s a head scratcher. I would rather see a high percentage pass called and be incomplete than continue to run it into a wall.

This has been an issue for years now. Lash's highly predictable playcalling & use of the wrong personnel just compounds an already dire situation. Fixes & workarounds:

1) Thad "the Beast" Franklin. He runs with bad intentions. Should definitely be used instead of Knighton (and I'm a big Knighton fan).
2) QB sneak. TVD is a fighter. He'll get it one way or another.
3) Swing pass to Rooster.
4) Short throw to Mallory or Arroyo.

....just do not run it up the gut for no gain every single time. You're getting paid how much to come up with that over & over & over...for no gain?

I don’t inderstand why we never put the QB under center in short yardage situations. No QB sneak option (TVD is a big dude), and RB takes handoff 5 yards behind LOS from a standing start.
