I met Sapp once when were were both at UM (this was before he blew up as a player), and he was a very nice guy. I saw him at a clothing store in the Miami Design District after he had become a star in the NFL and he didn't bother with anyone in the store. Based on this second experience, I can understand why people don't like him.

Sapp doesn't live in a cave in Afghanistan. He is a very public person. It's not shocking that many people have come in contact with him.

Those housing development Sapp was investing in, he brought from my dad's job. My dad, who's a die hard cane too, had multiple conversations with him and had nothing but nice things to say about him

Fame will change people, not always positively either.

Regarding your second experience, he's just like you or me. He's got things to do, a limited amount of time to do it and fortunately we don't have to deal with people wanting whatever from him wherever we go. Talk to one person, two, three....those things add up. Be short with the next person and so on, you're now a prick in those peoples minds.

I've known some athletes through the years, whether it be NBA or NFL. The one thing they all have in common is people flock to them for a hello, signature, etc. There's nothing that says they have to stop what they're doing, it gets tiresome I'd imagine. Imagine sitting at dinner, a bar, a club, or whatever and being constantly interrupted....it gets old. There's a time and a place for that stuff, unfortunately the fans rarely recognize when that is.

he and dan morgan were the most decorated players awards wise in college at miami, then went on to have a hall of fame pro career name dropped the school several times during his hall of fame speech, i dont have twitter so i dont know what he says about the school on there but I'll take your word for it. I just think the accolades outweigh him having an abrasive personality, universities, coaches and fans love to promote the number of former all americans, award winners etc to entice people to the school and especially guys that make it to the hall, is the highest honor a football player can receive. love him or hate him he adds to an amazing list of former players at the school just being as good as he was is amazing contribution in it self

When he mentioned the U during his HOF induction, there were threads with people yuckin it up with how awesome it was. How time can change things.
