2027 Sherrod Gourdine ATH from McArthur (was Western)

Coach sorry if I missed it, but can you give a skills analysis on Gourdine? Thanks

POSITIVES...
*Elite feet.
*Elite understanding of route combinations.
*Patience and confidence allows him to jump quick routes.
*Extremely physical. (most physical CB I've ever had) Loves to blitz and tackle.
*Ball skills are elite due to his offensive background. (most DB's ended up there cause they can't catch, he snags picks with one hand)
*Wants to cover everybody's best WR
*His body control and balance is something I've never seen before.

NEGATIVES...
*Under 6'0"
*Will get bored as the game goes on if he's not seeing any action. This has led to him foregoing his technique later in games, which could leave him susceptible to late game busts (this is something we've already addressed though, finishing games)

In the first 3 clips you can see his patience and understanding of what route is coming based on the QB's drop & the WR's stem.

Sophomore tape. Look at him get his head around and high-point the football. Followed by 2 plays of him blitzing and running down the QB.

Savage is the most underrated mic technician of all time. I appreciate his promos so much more as an adult, they went over my head as a kid. “Nobody does it better!”

Miami thinks so highly of him that they are disregarding all of their size requirements. Throwing them in the trash.
Gourdine is an exception to their rules.
Miami generally doesn't recruit 5'10" DB's.
Rules are important, but knowing when to make an exception can be more important. But too many coaches limit themselves and don’t believe what their eyes see.
Looks like (and based on your list of positives) a bigger Trajan Bandy.
