I think you are 100% correct. I love his game and contribution. I think he is our best defender and plays well beyond his age. He is obviously a great finisher and has improved his shots within 10 feet of the basket. But I thought his jump shot would have improved at this point in the season. Because without it he’s too easy to guard in the NBA, where he likely plays SF. And if you think about NBA small forwards, they are really good 3 point shooters.His jump shot is the only reason why I think he comes back for a sophomore year.
I want to make sure I say this the right way. In no one way, shape or form has he been a disappointment. He is having a very good freshman season. He is doing a lot of things well. I have no regrets.
His jump shot was the only weakness I saw in his game early in the season and it has improved over the past 15 games.
Unfortunately, it's not on the level where I feel comfortable that he can turn pro and have a successful decade long career in the NBA.
That is not to be mean nor disrespectful in any way, its just an objective view to the situation.
Selfishly this works out well for UM because if Henderson returns, along with both Allens and the incoming recruits, UM has a bright future.
