2-3 years. No need for him to rush his development. Unless you are a surefire lottery pick, there's no use in going pro, especially with NIL. Players are starting to learn that you can make a ton of money, and develop in college. NBA franchises usually only give a rip about their lottery picks, everyone(other draft picks) else is expendable...

Also, he'll be defended by much stronger/higher caliber opponents once in ACC competition than he has seen thus far.

He def has a good chance of elevating himself into being a "One and Done" player but we'll know more by late February.

He has the NBA body but his shot needs a lot of work to just be respectable and his left hand doesn’t look very strong to me . He needs to add some skill since that’s what all the league seems to care about now. As you said he needs to show more but the potential is there. He’s just physically overwhelming guys at the college level , that won’t happen in the league. Very raw player still.

Yeah, Shelton could be the college poster player for "Bully Ball."

Defined as: "An aggressive, physical style of play where a stronger offensive player uses their size, strength, and body to create space and power through defenders to score near the basket, often initiating contact to get an advantage, rather than relying on finesse or outside shooting.

It involves lowering the shoulder, using hip leverage to back down defenders, and finishing through traffic, exemplified by players like Zion Williamson."
 
Shooting is a premium in the league. Especially shooting with size and some basic defense fundamentals. i.e. Keyshawn Geroge didn't do much here at all, but was a 1st round pick and is now playing very well for Washington. IDK if Shelton would be a 1st round pick right now but either way if he wants to play in the league he'll have to develop an jumper.

Agreed. He is a consistent jump shot away from being a 1st round pick, but I think it is coming, and will get there this season. The reason I say that is because his free throw looks much improved, and to me, the free throw tells us a lot about jump shooting. Pretty much every good free throw shooter is, or can become a good jump shooter.
