Shaq was an ambassador for The U before we started using that term with Deejay, Lorenzo, and Jordan. Shaq stayed committed to us and never wavered on that commitment during the coaching change from Golden to Richt. In fact, I remember him sitting with Mark Richt at the state championship games in Orlando. Shaq's team didnt make it to the championship, but Pickney's team made it. Pickney was not as solid as Shaq in terms of his commitment, so Shaq was there to help Richt close the deal. It obviously worked!

I am excited about our future moving forward with our young LB's, but I will definitely miss seeing these two gentlemen give it their all every Saturday for The U!
 
Prediction: Both will have productive careers in the NFL. Might not be drafted in the glamour rounds, but they will end up playing for a NFL team on a regular basis after some professional coaching. Canes are all over the NFL. Maybe not stars like Ray Lewis, Ed Reed, Andre Johnson, Michael Irvin, Frank Gore, Chuck Foreman, OJ Anderson, Ted Hendricks, and Vinnie, Kelly and Kosar, but they are valuable players. Duke, Perryman and Feliciano immediately come to mind. If UM ever gets back into the championship conversation, Canes will star as All-Pros again. Despite the hard times, this is a program that still places athletes in the NFL. Build up the wins and recruitment (which comes first?), and Canes will again capture the national imagination and hatred (yeah, I like that).
 
Shaq and Pick have been great representatives for the U.

Critiquing their play for most (I hope) and especially for myself doesn’t negate that.

it’s been an amazing ride. I really appreciate them and their commitment. I’ve enjoyed watching them play. I’ve celebrated every win and lamented every loss with them.

they’ve been very good-inconsistent players on good inconsistent teams.They beat FSU 3 times, Smashed Norte dame, throttled VT twice (almost went 3-1) vs them. which is amazing for any Hurricane.

my only advice for any young player coming in is; don’t talk about being great so much, dont talk about joining the pantheon. Let that be your internal thing. Because you have to understand that Legends like Ray Lewis are part fact and part myth. The standard in chasing a myth in almost impossible. Lebron James as decorated a NBa player we’ve ever seen will never defeat the myth aspect of Jordan’s legend.

shaq brought a lot of criticism on himself by putting his name in that conversation publically. Which created an impossible standard for him to ever achieve.

in short, really good players, did a lot for the U, played on two great championship level defenses. Sadly never found an offense that would have allowed them to play for championships.

Shaq, Pinck and Jaquan made this D what is it today. They helped lead to way for the younger guys.

These guys were not without their faults - but i'll take another one of each on my team any day. I just wish they had 4 years with a legit S&C like Feeley instead of just 1.
 
The comments Shaq made about having to re-focus his efforts after the GT game was very revealing and speaks to the dedication and sacrifice these guys have to make to be elite CFP players.
