Shaq and Pickney

I’d like to see Brooks and Joyner rotate in for these two guys. Tired of watching runners blow by both as they miss their tackles not to mention TE and H/T back types wide open all game long because these two refuse to cover them. I believe they are part of our defensive woes.

Of course they are. If your defense sucks you aren't a great LB. That position has so many opportunities to impact the game. Boston College averaged #27 in scoring defense nationally when Luke Kuechly was there. They won 8-7-4 games over those 3 years and had no other notable players on defense.

It was the same deal (part of the problem) with Denzel Perryman who was prone to poor reads and coverage lapses on garbage defenses, although that had more to do with how awful the scheme was and him not fitting in it. He's obviously a beast when he has basic gap responsibilities and can make plays downhill as a blitzer and run defender.

Tbh we haven't had a good LB since Sean Spence. That's appalling considering how many good ones grow up in Florida. Jermaine Grace would have been good if he didn't get booted. Even when we have good LBs like Arthur Brown, Perryman and maybe Pinckney they don't develop and aren't put in positions to succeed.

That was perhaps the weirdest/worst play I've ever seen anyone make on a football field.

I mean he sprinted with all due haste to a place that the QB wasn't even looking basically giving Hooker the WIDE OPEN LANE, with a blocker no less, to the end zone. I was like WTF

Second okay he has made that stood out this season was also in the UNC game. He got dragged 5 yards by a QB who escaped the pocket and gained a first down. The QB fought very hard but Shaqs supreme strength didn’t allow the QB to break free for a touchdown! This will highlight is impressive weight room gains.

I honestly don’t remember a MLB on his *** as much as Shaq has been this year just from trying to tackle opposing teams QB’s. If a scout just put a tape of all the missed qb tackles he’s had this year he’d be lucky to be a UDFA

No they wouldn't. Scheme doesn't matter when you take poor angles and misread plays.

They've been coached to play this way for 4 years straight. If they had a real LB coach teach them how to take proper angles and how to properly read plays, and were playing in a real scheme, they'd be fine. If anything, they're too slow. Dont be surprised when some NFL teams turn these guys into competitors.

They are bigger LBs that were originally recruited by Golden (Big Ten Style)

So they're not necessarily a total scheme fit, but I still expect more from Seniors

I think Brooks & Huff are more of the LBs Manny envisioned for this defense

Manny doesnt know what type of LBS he envisions as he sucks at recruitng AND evaluating linebackers.


Not for nothing on Shaq and Pinkney(They are good players) but whats worse is that since they have been here its literally been almost 4 classes and the HC of our team has yet to recruit a playable linebacker BEHIND them. With the EXCUSE being no linebacker wants to come here with the vaunted Pinkney and Shaq here. lmao

Yet .....Bama, osu , and a bunch of others seem to have no problem doing so. **** UF snatches Lbs from us when they want to.
