Shamar " Marty" Brown

We, and he, had some really big runs on the last drive that, had they gone differently, I don't know if we win that game. Remember how that last drive went:

- 9 yard pass to Daniels on 1st down, 2nd and 1 from the 34

- 4 yard run for Marty, picks up the first down to the 38, clock ticks under 3 minutes

- 15 yard pass interference on the deep ball to Marion, now we're in business at the ND 47 just outside the 2 minute warning

- Incomplete pass to Moore on 1st and 10, nice breakup by the ND DB, who probably should've been called for yet another pass interference but whatever

- 8 yard run on 2nd and 10 to the ND 39 by Marty Brown. This is the one. If we get stuffed here, it's 3rd and long and who knows how the game ends. But he gets 8 tough yards right up the middle, and now we go to the 2 minute warning with everything in the playbook at our disposal.

- Out of the 2 minute warning, we give it to Marty again, he gets 3 yards. I was watching the line judge this entire play, as he ran in from the boundary, the spot was short. Marty, and the whole line, continued to push, and I think we got a touch lucky as they were probably very close to blowing the whistle, but they let the play continue and it went from a 1 yard gain to a 3 yard gain, the line judge veered up the field about 2 yards as he ran in and the pile continued, first down. Now we can make them start taking their timeouts and push closer to a FG. Again, if we get stopped short, what does Mario do on 4th and 1 from the ND 38? We're not kicking a 55 yarder. Does he have the balls to go for it and potentially give ND the ball at their own 40 with a minute left?

Doesn't matter now, we got it done. But those 2 runs by Brown were HUGE, and kinda crazy the staff had him in the game at that point over Fletcher. Obviously the trust is massive. But without both those runs back to back, the game very well might have turned out differently.

On the 99.99% certain runs, I'd like to see what Gilbert shows in place of Bauman. Thought it was nuts that we asked him to block Traore 1on1 on a play that we couldn't afford to lose yards on.
I know we like that split flow run but the TE were struggling blocking the edge on that Lofton whiffed early on a few of those.. Some of those runs were blocked up good and still ended up with tackle at line of scrimmage because we couldnt seal off that DE.

Yup, needs to get better as season goes on. We run a ton out of 12 and it will be tough if we have too -value TEs blocking. My hope is that Lofton shows similar blocking improvement as Arroyo did last year (lower ceiling though).

He’s really good.

Gotta say I didn’t realize the damage MF was doing till the rewatch.. dudes aren’t going to want to tackle him.

Man what a RB room.

And this is with the one we expect to be the best (and the one who started the game) getting injured and only getting 5 touches.

He was really a pleasant surprise. Tough and efficient. He and Fletcher (who we just accept will probably never run with patience and never be an easy watch, but looks really good right now) are tough to bring down.

I just hope CMC doesn't fall win love with him…We still need Lyle's speed and big play ability to be our #1.

Give me more 83 at TE! HA Brown would of had 100 had he not been hit in the back field most of the time.
