Would some of ya'll rather have an average coordinator who runs an attacking 4-3 cover 2 that "gets upfield" instead of a guy like Orlando/Aranda? I'm getting that consensus and I just don't understand it

I'd rather have a great 4-3 DC. But I guess the idea of us getting a 4-3 guy is because CMR wants to run a 4-3. So an Orlando/Aranda doesn't make sense.

I don't think you followed the question. He asked would you rather have a guy who has been an average coordinator but that runs a 4-3 Cover 2, or a coordinator who consistently sports elite defenses but out of a 3-4 or 3-3.

For me, I want the elite coach. Scheme is irrelevant. There is nothing magical about any of these schemes; its how you teach it, how you get your players to understand it, and how you call the game.

IIRC Richt said he would like to run a 4-3 defense but I think ppl are looking too much into that interview. He said he would find the right guy and was open to whatever they ran

When he was first hired he said he envisioned that old school Miami 4-3. After that he said that it would drpend on coordinator. As long as we have great coaches I'm ok with any D that dominates and gets us back to competing for championships.

Richt said in the initial interviews, that a lot of times, the only difference between the two is one of the DL is standing up. I know there's more to it, but it sounded like his main philosophy was to get back to an attacking, 1-gap defensive line.

You'd have to be a hard headed neanderthal to prefer an average 4-3 coach over an elite 3-4 guy.

Just give me a good defense, I don't care how many hands are in the ground.

I just want someone that doesn't use the word "freelance".

I hear it again I might snap.

all things being equal or close to equal give me the 4-3 guy all day.. dont mind 3-4 1 gapping.. i prefer 4-3 just like i prefer not to run a read option offense.... but id take anything that worx

Y'all that prefer the 4-3 don't even know why you prefer it. LOL

It's only cause you're familiar with it, that's all.
