He’s an extremely tightly wound micromanager & all it takes is for one thing to go wrong before everything unravels.
Super intense uptight Coaches always have this kind of negative effect on their team because they overdo it to the point where the simplest & smallest circumstances can cause their entire structure to come crumbling down due to aimless meticulousness.
IMO it’s an overcompensation for a lack of actual Coaching ability, because he’s not really an X’s & O’s guy & isn’t really known for anything except being a recruiter & OL developer. Which is cool I guess, but what happens when that’s not enough? You have to fall back on what you know & what he knows is intensity for intensity’s sake. Which causes him to overthink every single decision, which results in fckin up the most obvious situations that shouldn’t be fcked up.
We’ve all heard the saying, “it takes effort to mess this up..” that’s basically what that means. Doing too much because you don’t actually know what to do when what you normally do doesn’t work.
