Serious question Golden or Richt

Al Golden lost games because of he coached scared. He was trying to implement a system that didn't work, his players knew it and gave up on him.
I agree that Golden deserved to go. I am saying he had to deal with sanction issues that Richt hasn't had to deal with. Can you imagine Richt's offense with a team where recruiting was drying up. Competing coaches had players thinking Miami was getting the death penalty. We got lucky that we got a Duke Johnson. He easily could have gone elsewhere.

When folks try to compare Richt and Golden straight out, you can't do that without acknowledging the sanctions.

Everyone remembers the Clemson beat down that ultimately got Golden fired but no one seems to want to talk about the beatdowns we took to FSU in 2013, ND in 2013, Kansas State in 2012, UNC in 2015, Louisville in 2013, and on and on it goes. Oh and the offense was putrid in those games as well.

It's like some of you have stockholm syndrome with Golden and have forgotten every bad result we had with him. Golden definitely wasn't the guy, and the verdict is still out on Richt. That being said, he's still a million times better than Golden.

Yes there were sanctions, but many of Al's losses were the result of poor coaching. I am by no means one of the Butch fan boys around here, but look back at the probation era of the 90's. We lost several games that we kept close in the second half because we had no depth and we were just gassed. Granted, Butch probably could have won a few games if he was a better x's and o's guy, but he didn't lose because his system was using kids incorrectly. Players also never quit on Butch. We know of at least two instances under Al where they did. The Duke game and Clemson game.
