Please assume the following:

1. Somehow/someway, Richt is no longer the HC.

2. James actually ran the athletic department during his tenure. He wasn't a puppet. So the following things were on him:

- Giving Golden 5 Years
- Not persuading Golden to bring in a DC
- Hiring Richt
- Allowing Richt to hire his son
- Allowing Richt to be the OC (to start with)
- Allowing Richt to be the OC after 2016
- Allowing Richt to be the OC after 2017 (when we regressed on offense)
- Extending Richt

Do you want this guy making the decisions going forward?

Absolutely not. He is terrible. Enough said.

I think the BOT/President at UM has to get rid of both James and Richt this year if they are serious about winning. If not, they can't possibly be serious about winning.

Definitely not. But ... there is probably not an AD In the entire country who wouldn't have extended CMR after that 10-0 start last season.

A few things:

1. Mark Richt was extended in May, 2018. So he wasn't extended immediately after that 10-0 start. There was plenty of things that transpired after that fluke.

2. Mark Richt was extended after losing his last three games.

3. Mark Richt was extended after making ZERO changes on offense.

4. Mark Richt had 4 years remaining on his original contract.

5. Mark Richt wasn't likely going anywhere. What was the hurry?

------

In summation, any competent AD wouldn't have considered it to begin with based on the above. In addition, any competent AD wouldn't have hired Richt to begin with.

NO way......he is just a poor fool appointed by Shalala....more concerned with political survival tha doing his job properly... like you mentioned his decision making process is guided by making sure he doesn't ***** or offends the BOT.

A small committee of ex canes should have the final word on the selection. Kosar, Vilma, Gino, Michael etc

Uh no (see below). This is why we need a competent and passionate AD with autonomy.

James, who also interviewed Dan Mullen, Butch Davis, Greg Schiano and interim coach Larry Scott, enlisted the help of search firm Korn Ferry (which at one point gave him a list of 40 names, including several NFL offensive coordinators) and counseled with a six-person committee that included two trustees (David Epstein and Steve Saiontz), a Miami lawyer (Hilarie Bass), UM’s football administrator (Jenn Strawley) and two former players (Jonathan Vilma and Vinny Testaverde).

Testaverde, Richt’s former teammate (they once sat in the same quarterbacks meeting room at UM with Jim Kelly and Bernie Kosar) said “it’s hard to believe” that Georgia let Richt go.

“All I can say is that their loss is our gain,” Testaverde said. “Selfishly, I am glad they did it. The reasons why they did it I don’t know, and frankly at this point, it really doesn’t matter and I don’t care.”

Neither Vilma nor Testaverde shared in great detail the committee’s process, but said James was the key figure. “Basically it was everybody gives their opinions and really I think at the end of the day, Blake James is the one that made the call,” Testaverde said.

You realize it is everything above not just individual highlights from his tenure? Right? Please let me know if you need actual stats on the offense at UGA or at Miami.

1. It’s not unprecedented for a HC to be his own OC (Richt has cover with Co-OCs, Brown and Dugans)

1. But Richt already failed at doing so at UGA. His offenses scored more points and gained more yards after he stopped.
2. Neither Brown nor Dugans has any playcalling experience. There was no cover just incompetence.
3. Then on top of hiring zero cover, he hires his dipchit son.

2. After 2016 Richt had the built in excuse of “first year…”

1. How about the large sample at UGA?
2. How about making some changes to help him be the OC?

3. After 2017 Richt had the 10 win, 1st year QB (who set Miami records) and a first ever Coastal win.

1. The offense regressed in 2017.
2. The defense is what got us the Coastal. Which is something Richt has NOTHING to do with.
3. If that QB was so good, why didn't Richt use him in 2016?

The problem with any extension, or contract for that matter, is not allowing for clawbacks or accountability - that should have been the message to his agent (and the agent, to Miami’s detriment, did his job) “we can do this next year OR we can do this in a way that allows Miami some protection, you understand that, right?”

Well the bigger problem is no contract extension was necessary.

Didn’t he also extend Golden after the first couple of years?
